Benq Manufactured In September 2006 Cannot Be Unlocked
« on: March 11, 2010, 03:18:00 PM »

I have received a Benq drive from Asia which was manufactured in September 2006. It seems to be older than the current model in my console and I can't seem unlock it in either Dosflash32 (v1.6Beta and 1.8) and the latest JF.

VT8237 but I have also tried my onboard Sata controller which doesn't work either.

The drive unlock in JF will get so far and then produce a failed error message. In DF the attempt to intro to the drive just times out. Using the Intro function in JF does the same thing.

I've had a look at this thread on XH and it seems like the guy there was able to dump and flash the drive in DF 1.6 but unfortunately I can't even get that far. All the usual things have been checked (drivers for via card uninstalled, tray half open, power cycle drive whilst sending intro command etc).

This thread from here also seems to relate to the same series of drive:

Does anybody have any ideas as quite a few people seem to have come across these drives but there doesn't really seem to be any solution information available.

Yes I did, I tried that first as that is what I usually use unless there is a problem.
