i think the version i am using is 1.61. i flashed to it in october or november. but so far all new games play. i guess i won't flash until i have to. it is such a pain on windows 7 x64.

Why is it such a pain on Windows 7 x64.  That's what I use to flash drive and I find no issues.

QUOTE(Haygar @ Mar 6 2010, 02:09 PM) *

There's no need to spoof anymore. The latest update removes the drive check but I'm not sure if anyone knows if MS can see at their end tho. If they can I think it would be safer than spoofing anyways.
It would be good if the images didn't need to be splitvid coz I have a lot that aren't and don't go on live with jtag. I've been really hangin out to try this so, THANK YOU!!

Can someone elaborate more on this?  I had no idea the latest dashboard didn't do a DVD drive check?  So I can buy a benQ, put LT on it and put it in my Elite with a Lite-On drive and it will work???

Are there any other webpages or references in the forums to this as a fact?

Thanks for the info..

For me its because I still do it the hold way using dosflash and firmtool.

firmtool doesn't work under a 64 bit OS.

luckily I have my old 32bit computer.. that has a wierd problem of spontaneously turning itself off..  usually it stays on just long enough to run firmtool, erase the firmware off benq and write the new one.

I never seemed have much luck with jungleflasher.

I love Jungleflasher, especially now that it's 64-bit compatible.  The only issue is with driver signing enforcement that Microsoft put in the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and 7.  Once that is disabled, I don't have any problems with JungleFlasher.

Thank you C4eva for another great release.  Screw you Microsoft, we will always win.

LT doesn't support drive spoofing.

I was expecting this kind of answer.

You can't spoof a Lite-On drive, that is correct. However, it seems possible to do so for a BenQ. My main concern is to know if this is "safe" or if it will be detected right away.

I would like a confirmation of this from a trusted member as well.

So many people say things here as if they were facts, when in the end it's just something they heard from someone who heard it from someone who heard it from someone ...

People switch Drives all the time. Whether it is safe or not as far as detection goes only MS knows. No one here is going to be able to give a definite answer. If you are worried about it dont do it. Either take a chance or dont.

I have a BENQ in my newest xbox and working xbox. I bought it a month ago brand new to replace my dead pro. I got the keys off of the lite on it came with and then spoofed the benq. I did it because the benq would be far easier to flash and has been fairly quiet. I haven't had any problems with live tho I only connect because of that stupid streaming video update bs. I recommend spoofing if you can, its not difficult and you might as well not risk it.

Awesome I am back on Live!  Thanks to everyone that made this happen!!

One question, I skimmed through and didnt see this anywhere.
Is there an easy way to check split vid and stealth on games that are already burnt? There are some older games i would like to play on live but dont want to if they are not safe.
thanks!!

By the way, I still use maximus toolbox 4.8 and dosflash.
I flashed this way so many times for myself and friends, that it seriously only took me like 5 minutes from taking apart my 360, flashing it, testing, and putting back together.

It's a fact. As of the most recent dash, you can put any dvd drive in any xbox and it will work fine, as long as it has the right key.

At the top of ABGX you change input from "File(s)" to "Burned DVD"

Play the originals on Live and play the backups off-line.

I thought that playing backups even offline can pose a risk since I thought the xbox stores disc checking stuff on the nand and then transmits it when connected to live.
