What Should I Do?
« on: February 02, 2020, 08:32:00 PM »

Well i purchased a used 360 that had a drive issue, long story short it still was covered under the 1 year warranty so i sent it to MS and now i have a new console coming back to me  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Question is, the one i sent them was a Sept 08 with HDMI, never been tampered with nothing.

Im guessing whatever box i get back now will be a lite-on drive.

Just wondering whats the best way to flash one of these suckers without having to worry about blowing the laser or getting the "open tray" error? I saw that you can make your own probe instead of having to use ck3 which i gathered all the parts for to do that. Also that using the 360 to power the drive will create a record on the nand so what i planned on doing was using my old RROD 360 to power the drive and flash it.

I just wanted to avoid the "open tray" issue after the flash. So can someone guide me in the right direction? Whats the best firmware to load onto these devices now?

You will most likely get it back with a new lite-on.

You wont need a probe.

You will need to follow this tutorial.

You might as well use iXtreme LT

yah, you will be getting a NEW lite-on.
check out the new CK3 probe v2.
makes it easy. all you have to do is cut the traces, no more soldering.

Id prefer not having to buy any additional hardware.

These new lite-ons experience the "open tray" error after a flash also?

Thanks

please explain to me how u don't need to solder traces after cutting them and why that method wouldn't be feasible when using a resistor and scrap wire instead of an over priced probe.

Can someone explain to me all this pad101 thing everyone seems to be talking about?

Is that just the small pin hole where the cut is supposed to be made? Like i dont understand whats the big deal with it?

just letting you know you can still solder traces or with this kit you use special conductive glue  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Flash drive with laser for ribbon disconnected.
Also with complete firmware dump you get the laser calibration part of the firmware so I can't see any reason why your laser would die. Its never happened to me.

Pad101 is very easy to damage. It can't take much heat. In the MRA tutorial he has you cut very close to it then solder to it. Most people broke it off either when cutting or when soldering. In the BoXXDr method (my way) you cut away from it and jump over it with a wire so less chance of failure. Still many people have manged to mess this up. Most of them didn't prepare the traces correctly. (i use a fibreglass brush) The others used some king of horrible solder and a over powered soldering iron getting things so hot that the traces lifted off.

Then there are the people that get too excited and plug the DVD power line in upside down (even though it is keyed)

So take your time use the correct stuff and you should be fine.

Always check for shorts with a multimeter if you are unsure before powering drive!

Good luck.

Alright thanks a lot yah i was looking at the BXXDR method and it seemed fine and i realized the cuts were away from pad101 so i wasnt quite sure why people were damaging it.

Oh yah always checking with a multimeter for continuity etc.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
