ok a friend of mine wants me to flash his lite-on 7485 .
and iv been reading.....all i seem to find is that u NEED a extractor and spear to get the dummy.bin and key ect..

i was wondering...if i solder the r707 and r708 (bridge them)
if that would get rid of the (serial data is bad error)

i need a tut or a few tips...a tut were i didnt have to buy anything extra would be nice.

i know how to flash drives.but this is my first lite-on...if i can get past the dummy.bin and other files i need to back up i will be good to go.

thanks in advance and sorry if someone allready posted this...i just havent found it.

and if i NEED a CK3 .can someone link me to a cheap one with the probe?

you wanna use the mra method.  i do it a little different from the tut, i bridge the 2 traces, make the 2 cuts, then just make a spear out of a 22 ohm resistor that i spear 101 w/ while i intro the drive (solder other side of resistor to a grounding point on board).

Sounds like your friend would have better chances doing it himself.

i flashed mine yesterday. ive got  74850c. You need only PCI SATA Card w/ VIA  VT6421A Chipset and homemade probe like this: scheme probe. it is very easy to make. You dont need to solder the r707 and r708.

DO NOT use the spear method anymore!!!  U will lose your laser calibration dat!!  All liteon drive should be done use the MRA method or equivalent getting a 100% dump!
