I have a lite-on dvd drive for my 360.
I was wondering if it's possible to use Slax2 or a lite-on equivalent toolkit to flash if i modified firmware bins so i have firmware compatible with my lite-on drive. out of the tutorials ive looked through i can't seem to find an easier way to flash a 360 drive than to have an hitachi and use slax2. i dont have a connectivity kit and cant afford one

short answer, no.  use the mra method.  u don't have to have a connectivity kit, but they sure as hell help.  other wise just pay some one.

First off Slax does not flash anything including Hitachi's. Back in the day it used to be used to put a Hitachi into mode b. But now that can be done within windows using Jungle Flasher.

You first need to find out what version liteon you have.

Only way to easily flash a 74850C is with a homemade spear, basically anything that you can stick into a pinhole (R707, look for pics, its labelled on the circuit board), you can use the xbox to power the drive you just need to hook up sata to your comp and make sure you have the right hardware, if you are already lost then don't bother haha it will probably be cheaper for you to just pay someone, it is pretty cheap, but if you are determined, you need to put 5V to R707 to extract the key, if you don't want to make your own spear you can buy them off ebay or xecuter website, use JF, lots of tutorials out there

any one capable of doing a homemade spear should just use the mra method anyway.  besides, i've seen lots of people burn up drives using those things.
