After Flashing My Dg-16d2s My Drive Spins Super Fast!
« on: February 08, 2010, 12:23:00 AM »

I have flashed many xbox360's and this one is the first that i've ran into problems. 1st, my CK3 device failed on me during my writing of the firmware. Then i used my xbox to load up the drive and was able to erase and flash through there. The drive wrote ok and even passed the flash. The drive wont read anything and it spins super fast and when i hit eject the tray opens and the disc comes flying out! Doesn't even slow it down.

What can i do to fix this? Is this bad firmware? Or is it possible the key that I read 3 times that showed the same key ended up being incorrect? I'm wondering if my CK3 was failing and read the key wrong. What happens when you have the wrong key? Does this sound like my problem? If its not a wrong key what can i do to fix it?

prolly flash with wrong firmware. make sure you get your firmwares from a reputable site and not from torrents or p2p.

Thanks for your advice, but I have used this same firmware on my other lite-on so i know it works fine. Its a 83850c and it's been flashed with lite. I got the firmware from xbins as well. I've never had this happen; its so strange. I used the Dummy.bin to create the firmware in jungleflasher. I can erase and write to the drive fine, just getting this problem. Is it possible that my pc is reporting the writing procedure correct, even-though its not writing it correctly?

I'm going to try and flash the firmware I wrote to my drive onto this one and toss it into my xbox and see if it works. I really don't know what else to try. What happens when the key is bad? Does it spin superfast and eject without slowing the disc down? OR does it just not read anything but act normal?

Ok, I threw on my working bin from my drive onto this lite-on and it still didnt work. The drive spins superfast and gets the open disc error after 3 mins.

I have no idea what it could be. This was a brand new system never flashed and worked before erasing. I dumped the key 6 times and it all came out the same. I never heard of this issue or seen it. What could be the cause? How could the drive have gone bad? I can write and Erase to it just fine in Dos with.

Has anyone else had this issue? If not what does it sound like it could be? I put a working bin and key and tried it on my xbox so its not a Key issue.

We gonna need more info. How did you flash it? Probe or solder points together? What firmware you using? So you flash the exact firmware on your box with your keys and it works?

I flashed it with Dosflash.

No solder or probe. There bother 83850C Version 1. I don't have the original firmware to this drive, but i have it to my drive. I copied the lite firmware and his key on to his drive. Drive just spins really fast for 2 mins and gets open tray. I then flashed his drive with my firmware (both lite and original with my key) and tested it in my xbox and got the same results. I'm confused since this system was new, played Cod4 fine, So i tried to flash it and its never worked since. I tried Both Version 1 Version 2 and the 748 firmware and nothing works. Dosflash says it erases fine and flashes fine.

Anything I could try? Any idea what it could be? I started with jungleflasher, but it froze on me at writing bank 0 so i used dos flash from there on. I did dump and flash my drive with jungle flasher the first time so im not sure why this drive froze at that point either. The drive was made in July of 2009 just like mine.

Did you tried to spoof to orig fw provided by C4E and then from it to LT?
Maybe the issue is the calibration data.
Just a thought.

Thanks. I did that as well. When the drive didn't respond the first time I flashed it to the stock firmware provided by C4E as well as the one from my other drive and same thing keeps happening.

I have been researching on this problem and it seems the lasers are failing? Everyone else mentioned the open trey problem and not reading discs, but my problem is a little different. It doesnt read anything, but it spins up super fast (sounds like a 52x cdrom coping a cd to hard drive) and tries to read the games or movies and then it gives up and says open tray.

Before I buy a new drive, Is there anything else i can try?
