Jungleflasher Froze On "writing Bank 0:..."
« on: January 25, 2010, 07:09:00 AM »

XBOX 360 Lite-On 74850c
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Hardware: VIA VT6421 SATA CARD

I rant into some terrible problems last night when I was trying to flash to the new FW.
I followed every single instruction in the JungleFlasher Tutorial to the T. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit; VIA VT6421 SATA Card ... so I followed all the instructions pertaining to this.

- Removed all VIA drives from Windows/System32/Drivers (via*.sys, vsm*.sys)
- Confirmed Yellow Exclamation Mark on the VIA Card in Device Manager
- Signed portio drivers using DSEO and re-started PC with Test Mode Enabled.

I started off with Erasing Drivers and getting the Flash Chip Properties with Good Device ID & Status 0x72 and everything went well!!! No problems!!

Finally I hit the "WRITE" button ... and JungleFlasher froze on "Writing Bank 0: ..."
It never recovered from it and finally I had to shut everything down.

Now JungleFlasher won't detect the drive anymore!!! It keeps saying "No Drive Detected!"

What do I do? First order of business is, how do I get my drive to get detected again? And secondly ... how do I write the new firmware? At this point the drive's FW is erased so it has nothing on it!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks.

@amp2006: Sorry I forgot to mention; I'm not flashing a virgin lite-on (stock) ... I already have iXtreme 1.51 on it currently and I'm upgrading to iXtreme LT. And yes, I do have the original Key/FW stashed away safely smile.gif

@neil321: So you're talking about completely eliminating the JungleFlasher and using DOSFLASH to do the whole thing? I'm all for it but I'm powering the drive using XBOX 360 ... I don't have the Molex DVD Power thingy ... will it still work?

if you know its sata port, send another erase on the port to clean it, liteons are pretty hard to brick.

When I open JungleFlasher, it does not detect my drive anymore ... so clicking on "Erase Lite-On" doesn't do anything anymore!

Here's an image to write onto a usb stick: http://derek.chezmarcotte.ca/?p=188

Just write that image and copy the files mentioned in the previous url onto the usb stick.

Sounds like the solution for me!!! Thanks a ton. I'm going to give this a shot later today (Still at work) and post back my results.

i know this sounds dumb but i had same prob. I connected my via card in pci slot and then connected my sata connection from motherboard into card  then connected drive to other output on sata card so kept freezing every time i went to write with new jf. kept chasing my tale because i previously flashed a few drives with this set up but with previous jf and worked although froze once or twice. removed motherboard connection redone via card removal instructions and sent write erase and worked first time. messin with it for days, but because it worked before didnt think set up was wrong. hope helps

I'm not quite sure I understand your setup ... what do you mean by "then connected my sata connection from motherboard into card  then connected drive to other output on sata card"?

I have my VIA VT6421 in my PCI Slot on the motherboard;
I plug my lite-on drive directly onto the Primary Master SATA Port on the VIA Card.

How do you write the IMG to the USB Stick? I can't find any way to do so!

WORKS!!! Just flashed Lite-on (iXtreme 1.51) --> iXtreme LT using Dosflash!! Connected to XBOX Live ... Not Banned!!!

I should have never gone the JungleFlasher route - not worth it!!

For anyone having a similar problem, use Dosflash. It's easy & simple.

- Create bootable USB drive (HP USB Disk Tool)
- Copy Dosflash.typ, Dosflash.exe, L-O-Eras.exe & your Lite_CFW.bin on the USB
- Boot from USB and issue following commands:

L-O-Eras CC00 (<-- Your SATA Port # where your Lite-On is Connected)
Dosflash CC00 W LITE_CFW.bin

That's it!!!! You're Done!!

Thanks everyone for helping me out! smile.gif

You could just use the UNIATA busmaster sata driver too.  It will never freeze on you again if you use that driver in jungleflasher.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I had a similar situation in which I erased the liteon but couldnt ever get it to go into vendor mode. Next thing I know, cant eject, cant get it to recognize in JungleFlasher. Followed these steps as listed (but wasnt working at first) had to type "dosflash" and it gave me a list of options (erase, write, etc...) and eventually got it figured out from there. Again, thank you to everyone involved in this post!
