Liteon 748 0xff, Ffff, 0x80, Ughhh
« on: January 21, 2010, 09:41:00 PM »

ok.  first of i have read the sticky.  i have read almost everything i could find, from threads here and other various forums, watched a dozen youtube videos, and am at my wits end.  I need some outside help.

I am not a noob, but cant figure this out.  Flashing my liteon drive to LT.  pc froze.  i have the via 6421, win 7.  removed the drivers from the card (system 32 vsmraid, sys), and used the latest JF, 1.7 (85).  i managed to erase the drive, but it froze while writing on block 4.

obviously the drive isnt recognized now, wont eject, the usual.  i have tried:

booting from dos and using l-o-eras.  i cant seem get my drive into mode B no matter how much i try.  i have a connectivity kit, have manually ejected the drive, powered down, put tray half way in, powered up, but to no avail.  dosflash doesnt see the drive (no matter what i do), however i can "dosflash liteon e d100" the drive and it will say successful.  no matter what i try i cant get past 0x80 in JF, ffff in dos (and command prompt), i have tried xbox 1.6 modification disk and usb drive.  I have tried repeatedly spamming l-o-eras d100 and power cycling in between.  i am banging my head against the wall, i estimate i have spent at least 10 hours researching this and trying different things.  Lite-on erase in JF doesnt work either and have tried lower versions of JF just to be sure.  ive done more, but am so frustrated, i just cant articulate it..  .     .     .

i have tried different SATA ports; i think my biggest barrier here is the inability to get the drive into mode B, despite repeated attempts manually.....  im ready to chuck it against the wall.  hell at this point ill pay someone to do it for me..  any takers or advice?  headed to bed, cant take much more...

Mods-> i posted this in the newbie area as well initially.  I apologize as i feel this is the area it should have been.  Im sorry if i caused any inconvenience.

whats up with the LT Switch? will that put the drive in a flashable state?

Hi there been searching for an answer to this problem for a couple days now and have found no answer that has worked for me. First I would like to say that I'm a noob and that i was lucky enough to get an infamous   liteon 74850c as my first drive attempt. That being said I have read every forum i could find on this topic or near it and followed countless tutorials perfectly to no avail also this is a post most like my problem except  I only get status ffff in l-o-erase unless in jf v1.7 i get 0x7f but where my drive is connected it also says no drive detected. O and before i forget the reason i quoted you zoomerman was because I'm using an XP comp and that does not seem to make a difference. What is this boxx method you speak off tried researching it could not find anything on it except multiplying fractions lol. Thank you all who may participate in all of us with this problem finding a solution.

I have the same problem. I kill my liteon 74850c. Version 1. By mistake i spoof it from liteon V2 to this V1(74850c) by JF 1.6 andl dosflash 1.7 with Lite Touch. Now my liteon is dead. Dosflash don't see the drive. Commands: dosflash liteon e {port number} and l-o-eras {port number}, don't work. Always FF80. In windows pc freeze. Is there any chance to repair this drive? I have good dummy.bin. Is that hapened becouse i spoof firmware LT with jungle 1.6 not 1.7, so that kill my drive. Are you agree?

What's with that drives i'm not noob too but this drive make me sick ;D

I had this problems, too. I had to use L-O-Eras.exe and in JF I sent the Device-ID intro and outros multiple times and switched the drive off and on again multiple times. Had multiple bad flashs but after I almost gave up it just worked.

Well that is certainly viable but is there no way you can tell us how you personally fix this problem because i'm certain that more than just I would rather do it ourselves for whatever reason whether it be tired of paying or just for the DIY experience. Have a heart and let us in on the great secret (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
Great pricing btw best I have seen for any flash service only thing is shipping from U.S can't be a friendly price (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I just do not see the attraction with VIA cards (unless you're doing a Hitachi).  I've seen and personally experienced more JF lockups with this chipset than anything else, even after removing drivers properly.

Anyway, here's a few things I'd suggest trying:

1) Stop using VIA and start using internal SATA, check to make sure its JF-supported (obviously)!!!!!

2) Go "naked method ™" :  If you are set on getting this to work in Windows with JF -- Remove your chipset drivers (ALL OF THEM) reboot into Windows and try JF with no drivers installed whatsoever.  Bad/corrupt/old/mismatched SATA/IDE/BUS drivers are the #1 reason for Jungleflasher lockups.

3) Downgrade or remove .NET framework leaving only version 2.0 with service packs.  If you really have the time, nuke all your .NET installs and re-install just back to 2.0.

Last Resort: Try iPrep and/or keep fiddling around with L-O-Erase/DOSFLASH.  Make sure when you create your USB stick that you select the correct SATA port.

Good luck!
