Help With Slax
« on: January 05, 2010, 07:31:00 AM »

Hi.  I have a hitachi 79 drive that has been spoofed to benq w/ stock firmware.  JF does not see it with my current chipset configuration so I cannot use it to put it into modeb.

I can boot slax fine, but it never puts the drive into mode b.  It detects it as a benq so I am guessing that the modeb hack doesn't work because there is no HL... drive that it detects.

what are the commands I need to type in slax to send the modeb command to my spoofed drive?

Is it simply:  modeb /dev/sata2

if my drive is on sata port 2?

thanks

aint you supposed to use sata port 1 your master sata port as slax will look for the master so if you dont have it there i think thats why it wont work.

you dont type any conmmands if you use correct slaxcd,it will do it for you,you should power the drive on before the pc,slax should be set to auto boot in your pc drive.it will show you the drive in post screen, then slax will boot in,when it does it should say something like dis spinning up...here,press the eject on the drive and it will thgen proceed to end of slax, when you get to login screen just press ctrl+alt+delete and it will reboot your system and slax should auto eject or you might have to eject it,then when your pc reboots go to windows, open my computer and your drive will be there.then run 79unlock on it.

jungleflasher has modeb,it dont matter that it might be spoofed you still treat it like a hitachi for modeb and unlock, just when it commes to flashing, get a dump of the drives fw,be sure it has key, keep it safe.then unspoof it and restore it back to original state then reflash the way you want to.

Thanks

I did not have it as port 0 or 1.   I hope to hell that was the issue.  However I do think you can manually send modeb to the drive as I found a tut for flashing a hitachi hooked up to a USB to SATA adapter.
