Can you install this (with traces cut), dump firmware, then remove this switch, and connect traces again?
And use the LT switch another time for another Lite-On drive (same way as described above)?

Yes you can remove it and install it, just got to desolder it, then connect the traces again.  One person suggested on reconnecting traces, you should take some bare wire and put some solder on it and run it across your cuts and then solder that to your points to fix the traces.

almost ordered, but then read the fine print...still requires soldering skills...(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

These are simple solder points, an amateur should be able to do this, but the trace cutting would be the hardest part of this whole thing.

The fact is it still requires people to solder, and if they cannot solder a simple job like in BOXXDR's method then they are going to struggle with this as well.

I just dont see the point of it to be fair, people who are doing a lot of drives will not find this any less time consuming so they will not be interested because once you have the info from the drive there is no need to use it again on that drive.

Repairing the cuts afterwards is easily done just use a flux pen over the cut trace and a dab of solder and it will neatly fill it in for you.

You cannot knock Teamxecuter though they certainly have a good eye for making a fast buck.

EDIT
Just like to add, why would you even use this for 74850 and 83850 V1 drives????

I use a thin grinding wheel on a dremel.

I use a dremel as well a thin grinding wheel to cut the traces and a thin disc brush to brush the green off. then i use my solderless patch to dump the firmware so the only soldering i have to do is reconnect the traces when im done.

Dunno.

From what I read the other day, someone stated that there is a certain section of the liteon firmware that has laser calibration info, so it probably varies from FW to FW.  Someone stated this might be an issue causing liteon to only play originals and verbatims and not other media.  I have noticed that some liteons will play memorex or other shit media, and some don't weird, eh?

I'm not buying this until I have ixtreme-lt in my hands...

I'm just going to use BenQ drives and spoof them with the latest 1.41 Rev5 for Liteon.

One is Stealth, one is Non-stealth.
