93450c Lite-on Drives.....a Successful Tut Maybe?!
« on: January 02, 2010, 08:13:00 PM »

I just want to ask the mods in the Scene to sticky a nice tut within the "pinned" section strictly for the 93450c drives. These drives are showing up all over the place now and I have yet to come across the 838xxx which I wish for over the dreaded 9xxxx. I am hoping that a more noob friendly method will be posted in the near future as I have successfully flashed one of these and it sure isn't for the average "joe" if you asked me. There are some unclear things within the JF pdf tut that needs to be implemented though...great job Team Jungle and C4Eva. I just want to point out some things that may be considered to be implemented inside the tut. First let's take a look at the "cutting traces" portion. Could there be a list of tools used to cut the traces and how many strokes should be made when cutting the traces? Do the traces get refilled after the fw is extracted or not? Should other Ohm resistors be used...16, 20, etc., instead of the 22Ohm if users seem to think that they don't work? What's the best method for STRIPPING the "grass" from the MOBO and with what tool to strip with in the first place?

I used a standard razor blade being that I do have a quick reflex when it comes to scrapping off any surface within the small distance, especially between traces. Do we need to use "flux" in order for better adhesiveness of the solder sticking to the MOBO after stripping the "green grass" from the MOBO? Last but not least, why is it necessary to cut the one trace "parallel" and not "perpendicular"? I did suffer the 3rlod after my first attempt, but finally got it right after removing a little solder from one of the stripped areas as it was too much which spread over traces it shouldn't have. I'm sure there are others who want to know the answers to these questions as well so c'mon Scene and let us have it! Go Team Jungle!!

I'm quite sure the BoxxDr method covers everything you just listed.

He's been a member since 2004 and hasn't posted a bunch of bullshit like you have in the year you've been here.    ohmy.gif

None of that is relative to JungleFlasher, hence why we havent included it - although we do state to orejoin traces.

The JungleFlasher guide is for appyling JF to complete the task. We included images of how we've collectively modded the drives - some prefer MRA's pin lift method, some prefer BoxxDR's method of using a jump wire for Pad 101.

Horses for courses, there's a few ways of appyling this hack, there is no right/wrong way.

The JF tut will not expand another 30 pages just to add the many ways to skin a cat. The info is collectively available, we dont cover Slax for setting modeb on a similar basis either.

Just a little FYI

@OP pick one.

don't start multiple threads asking "which is best?"
