Lite-on Firmware Contains Laser Calibration Data?
« Reply #15 on: November 16, 2010, 11:30:00 PM »

I know this thread is pretty old, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere about whether or not the calibration data is important for Lite-On drives.  Was a conclusion ever reached?

OggyUK says it's useless and that's good enough for me.  I still use probe for v7 and lo83info for 8v-1 drives and never had an issue.

Great, thanks for answering.  I won't bother with the full dump then.

I guess the easy way is to just remove the laser ribbon and use the dummy.bin

The hard way "well, more hard than the probe" would be to MRA, LT switch, vampire, whatever method and get the calibration data from the full dump. If it was said not to be important than I would say using the dummy.bin is fine besides the fact of not being able to return to stock. Lucky for me I have a stock drive and another drive with LT+, this way I am able to do updates etc on stock and then return the modified drive back to the console.

I feel that the liteon drives have the most issues reading media after awhile anyways. All my read issues were from consoles that had liteons, as well as all my friends liteon drives.

Yeah, I started doing the MRA hack lately on the x7 series of lite on drives to make them as xbox live safe as possible.

But i read, on the 7x series at least that the callibration info is useless.

So yeah i was a little annoyed id spent so long doing on those drives like that. Ah well, least i got practice for the x9 series etc.

He'll say its useless cause he don't give two shits about it, i'm on syntax side for this one cause it seems that the laser calibration code is somehow lost in the flashing process, ESPECIALLY in the 7 series liteon.
I think it would be a wise decision to do a FULL dump of all liteons from now on.
Sure it will work on a few liteons, but some very fussy on originals and backups after flashing. and i'm glad this thread is open concerning comatose lasers and calibration issues cause i'm studying the drive's behavior too long when it gets flashed with custom firmware and the original firmware.

I said it's useless because its proven to be useless information.

"He don't give 2 shits about it" -

Because it's redundant, go run the tests for yourself. Why are all restickered 93450c blank in this area? Why are refubs blank in this area?

Geremia provided the base for everyone to see this for themselves.

Why don't you do some fucking research instead of making uninformed posts?

and it's your ignorant attitude that pisses me the fuck off anytime you comment on anything
our main concern is on calibration, but if you don't have nothing good to say, STFU or sit in the back and keep your comment to yourself

Ignorant? Like in 'ignorant to the facts presented before you'

Have you ran geremia's tests?

No.

Obviously 3c000 data is lost on 7 series modding, if you dvdkey it, it's not dumped.

My comment both now, before and in the quoted post is relevant to the data, and that data is not relevant to calibration.

So, my point is valid, you're just applying it to a theory that's proven to be incorrect.

When you've bothered to research these things. And can make an informed comment, you probably will find I'll listen to what you are saying, if you're just echoing a theory that's been proven wrong and you can see it for yourself by doing a few simple tests then don't be taken aback when I put you in the back, where you belong.

If it's something good to say, that what you want from me... Tough fucking shit.
