Iprep 11.6 With Lite-on 83850c Aoa2
« on: December 28, 2009, 07:08:00 PM »

I need a good tutorial for this. At least for using ONLY sata and Iprep. Iprep has worked pretty much the same for a long time, but I need to know how to do this with only Iprep.

The main issue I'm having is I ONLY have x64 operating systems. Running on my computers. So unless I can some way boot a 32 bit operating system and use Jungle flahser (which I haven't used either) then I need to use Iprep.

You could always boot using NTFS4DOS and use DOSFLASH. Just have iPrep put the cfw in a folder like C:/xbox or whatever, and also put dosflash in that same folder. Then boot up with ntfs4dos, and go to that folder, and run dosflash to erase, then write your firmware.

If it's an 83850c v2, then you'll have to refer to BoxxDr's method to dump it first.

You don't have to do any of that when doing it the way I described. Just boot from ntfs4dos with drive connected but not powered on. Once in dos, power on drive. cd to the correct directory. Then run dosflash. It will ask you if you want to resend intro, just type no. It will then list all your drives. Select the number that is your xbox drive. Then it ask you if what you want to do, i.e. erase, write etc. Erase it first, then write it.

Do you have your key yet? It sounded like you have done this before, you just need another way to flash.

I'm sorry, but I'm a complete newb on lite-on's. I've done benq, i've done hitachi, and samsung. But I'm pretty sure this is a version 1 of the 83850c, it's 83850c for sure. The system is from early june 09 and the drive is from may 09.

I just need a step by step newb tutorial for my first lite-on i guess. Thanks in advance.

Then follow Boxxdr tutorial first like Takashi said, then you could do what I posted above once you have your key.

Boxxdr has me cutting wires and stuff. I was told I didn't need to do any of that... I'm not good at that kind of thing.

May 09, that's v1, you're good.
No need to cut/solder.

so...i need a small step by step tutorial. I know the whole basics of iprep, just not of liteon use. So if someone could walk me through that lite-on dumping / flashing, I'd be great!

I think a few of the reasons you're not getting a ton of help here is that a) this is a "Newbie Chat" question posted in "Technical DVD-ROM and Modified DVD Firmware Forum" and you haven't taken the initiative to actually try anything.  If you look around there is a ton of videos and tutorials and forum posts about dumping/flashing liteons with iPrep.

In short and to do this without definitions or JF to r/w:

1) Prepare your iPrep USB stick without any firmware at all (or use an older 838 firmware as a placeholder) selected and click "create bootable"
2) Boot off your USB stick and just go through the steps for reading the Liteon but DO NOT erase/flash it.  This will save several files to your USB stick including the key.  I recommend doing this several times to make sure you have a real key and googling your key to make sure its legit
3) Boot back into Windows and, using Jungleflasher, spoof your LO83DUM.bin as source to the new target firmware.  Save that CFW to your USB stick as LO83CFW.bin (or something like that I forget).
4) Boot back into your USB stick and flash using that newly spoofed firmware using:

flit 1234567 12345 w

The lowercase w means "just write".  This should erase and write the new firmware.

Good luck.
