The bottom line is simple CFW will NEVER be safe on live so it is pointless to speculate. If you want CFW there is a simple solution that is cheaper than ruining a console with a ban and buying a new one, and then repeating again. Buy 2 consoles, 1 for online with original FW and 1 for offline with CFW that stays offline. If a game is good enough to be played online or if you want the DLC then just play the original disc (BUY IT!!!!!) its that simple. Christ, if the game is that good that it is worth playing online, than the $60 for it, its worth it.
Please, its common sense CFW = BAN its that simple. You might avoid a ban wave or two, but eventually MS will win. This FW is perfect for the solution I have stated, no need to update ever again just don't go on live with it... EVER
ps.
thanks to anybody who has contributed to CFW and to the scene in general.
Actually no, the bottom line is you use this firmware, and if you get banned it is no big deal. Currently arcade 360's cost less than the price of 2 new release games. Either sell your banned console ( which will recoup approx 3 quarters the cost of the console) or don't and use it offline from then on. Everyone who says it is only a matter of time before you get banned is probably right but if during that time you have burned and played 20 games then you are ahead.
Saying CFM=BAN is going too far. Those who have only ever used 1.41 NS are proof of this.
Back on topic, I got a PM asking if I was still online without any problems and I am. I think I flashed the drive with 1.6 NS on Dec 28th so we are at about a week now and no ban. And for everyone who is going to say "you're going to get flagged and cop it in the next ban wave" well so be it. If it is 11 months until the next wave there is a lot I can do between now and then. Even if it happens next week I will just sell it and try again (probably spoof a benq with 1.41 NS).
