would have thought it wont make a difference,74850 are all the same, same method of dumping (without soldering etc) if your not getting a dump off it then your doing something wrong.

You need to use a probe for Liteon 7xxxx drives. That is not a new drive and has been around for some time now.lol

lol yea probe it is.

liquidxed, I think you are mixing up the methods. There are 2:
1) Using maximus xtractor/ck3/Homemade xtractor. You can solder the r707 or use a probe on the r707 hole(solderless)

2) The newest method: The boxxdr one where you cut traces and have a switch etc.

These are 2 different ways, dont mix or use instuctions from one another methods.
The only thing in common is soldering the r707.

I had alot of problems dumping the key from the homemade xtractor I made and i bought a "rs232 to ttl" from ebay which is essentially the same as a maximus xtrator.....blah blah

Anyway, I found out that the dvd drive should be plugged into a normal sata, not raid or achi mode. Change the mode from in the bios.
Try powering the drive and the pc at the same time.
Make sure you have the rs232 port enabled in the bios and plugged in from the xtractor.

im usen the maximus xtractor pro, with the usb conected. And the R707 bridged. connections are good tested with my meter. was any body able to get the key from usen the boxxdr method???? SH** now that i think about it, i think i desoldered the bridge of the R707 when i tryed the boxxdr method. I will try that again. got it to read the F/W but with out the key.

I have a 74850c, so dont asume you know what ur talkin about. instead of maken rude comments, y dont u try n help people that need help, ur no good 4 the scene.ive benn moddin since the ps1, so i think i know alittle somethin. If u know so much, y dont u tell me step by step how to deo u it?

why you are not able to get your key with maximus and probe on a 74850, and instead you have used a method, which does work, but costs a lot more time?

because you do not understand what you're doing.. haven't read enough tutorials.. comprende? like that one guy has mentioned to you, after you said the maximus xtractor is shit.. So it's shit because you're unable to perform the key dump with the hardware ??... he wasn't even rude to you, he's pointing out the fact that if you don't understand the hardware you're working with, you have no right to diss it for not working

funny how people brag on forums about how long they've been modding and how many drives they've done, but are unable to do the most simple thing in the world; in this case mod a 74850 with a probe + maximus

i understand how to use it, and have read everything on it. it will not read the key when bridge R707, and do the half open tray. im sayin mine is junk. y dont u explain to me what im supposed to do with it then? damn i must be ignorant cause i did the boxxdr method fine, but cant use a simple peace of hardware.. if u have nothin to say to help the situation then do say shit

i tell exactually what i did.
first bridged the R707
then installed the ubs serial drivers from maximus website
im usen a via 6421 so i removed that driver, like stated in jungle tut.
hooked everything up sata from drive to comp, power from drive to xtractor, usb to comp,
powered on the drive via xtractor, pushed the eject button, turned power off, closed the drive half way, turned power back on, started jungleflasher, the drive was reconized, then xtractor was reconized on com3, checked dummy.bin, clicked DVDKey32. then it say my key / fw is corrupt, or somethin.

What else is there to do, em i missin something?
im not tryin to be rude, but dont try to say that im an idiot and i dont know what im doin, why not try to help. instead of makin insults.

also. what i was sayin, u shouldnt have to use the probe, if u bridge the R707, thats what the product states.

like i said b4, y say anything if it dont help the situation? thats what i was sayin was no good for the scene, u got all thees cocky f**** around, tryin to play everyone as an idiot, for askin question. See, ur one of them.

you don't bridge 707.  all you have to do is install usb driver, stab the 707 hole, extract key.  that is why it didn't work for you.

unless you are cutting traces, you need a spear.

my guess is that you didn't have the tray in the right position. in my experience with those drive (i use the spear instead of bridging, but that is irrelevant as the end result is the same).

i've modded 5 of those drives, and on some of them, it worked great on the first try. on others, it failed to read the key, so i closed the tray all the way, hit eject, cut the drives power, adjusted the tray again, and apparently was in a slightly different position when i pushed the tray half way in because it worked.

I use the 9-pin serial D-Sub, no driver needed, but it works the same.
