IT MIGHT BE TOO LATE BUT PLEASE CUT OUT YOUR DVD DRIVE KEY

MODS PLEASE DELETE HIS POST
not that MS can do anything with individual drive keys but if they can you might already be effed

As I said, it's the wrong key. I also edited a couple of the digits, just in case it was an encrypted version of the correct key. So don't fret smile.gif

Open the dumped firmware as target in JF, then u can dump the key, inquiry etc as dummy.bin (right click on the target firmware should bring up the option)

Cant it said the F/W is not valid.. i cant remember if i had the R707 bridged when i dumped or not, aint sure if i had the usb hooked up either, im usen maximus xtractor pro.

Do i need the R707 bridged and the usb hooked up, when doing the Boxxdr Method?
Like i said it dumped the F/W but it didnt dump the key, and when i try to open as source and target, it says its not valid.

Ill never buy another liteon, not even for my comp. lol

Instructions (also by MRA i changed a few words)

blah blah blah

-If you have a Winbond SPI Flash inside (i know, you can´t be sure about this from the outside) you will probably get status 0x72 but instead of recognizing the Winbond flash it will be recognized as unknown flash chip (manufacturer and device ID 0xFF). If that is the case you can´t use Dosflash anymore, you have to use JF!

blah blah blah

Easier to use JF from the offset?

Nice tut btw Greg? -

If they awarded points for good looking mods, you'd win smile.gif

Ok so I went for it I have soldering experience from doing other electronics. I wired everything up correctly and made the right cuts. I plugged it into the computer and nothing was detected. I tried dosflash16 and 32 and JF. Nothing would show the drive. I tried toggling the switch and that didn't help. If anyone else has this problem let me know. Im going to just put the drive back to normal and use it legit. I'll buy a benq off ebay after xmas to mod. Thanks for the tut it just didn't work for me.

Ok well I bridged the connections plugged it back in and the xbox wouldn't turn on. It would turn on but never showed anything on the screen, also the power button was flashing. I checked my connections to make sure I wasn't touching anything I wasn't supposed to and it wasn't. So I got rid of the wire to connect it and just filled with solder. That got me to the dashboard but the power button is still flashing and the dashboard says the drive is opening. So I checked my connections again, now the xbox will turn on with out the drive connected with the power button flashing. But if the drive is connected i get the flashing green light and now 3 flashing red lights. This xbox is only 2 weeks old so I knew that it wasn't the same as the RROD. And its not. the RROD flashes lights 1, 3, and 4. Mine flashes 1, 2, and 3. Also I dont get any video when the drive is plugged in.

Turns out its E09. Here are some fixes if anyone else gets the same problem. I don't know if any of them will help but I think the last one will in our case.

Edit: Also mine is a 93450c-2. Maybe that has something to do with it not working, but I doubt it. I'm giving up for tonight maybe I can get it to work tomorrow, if not oh well.

Here's what I did:

Firstly I screwed the DVD mobo back on it's place and inserted all drive cables. Of course I first Did the traces using a knife and soldered everything like it should.

1. Dumped The firmware with status 0x72 Dosflash32 using the switch, position 1 when loading up dosflash and position 2 when you start dumping.
2. Loaded the firmware in target with Jungleflasher
3. Right click and save a dummy
4. Loaded up the Maximus firmware in target and dummy as source.
5. Click spoof to duplicate key in hacked firmware.
6. Flashed the firmware in position 1 using the lite on erase button, switching on/ off quickly. It recognized the drive without a problem.
7. Removed wires from mobo and fixed like instructed by boxx
8. Works like a charm!

Sorry to be a complete knob - can anyone recommend the best type of soldering iron to do this sort of work - and also a place to get all the other components needed?

Ideally UK based to go grab straight away! Maplins I think will be an option, but not sure on the soldering iron kits they do, real novice.

Thanks in advance -

I got an Antex 15 watt soldering iron with a 0,05 milimeter tip, the tools can be bought at any electro shop. Just ask them!

Got everything setup properly (or so I think) with the 3 cuts, wires soldered, switch set...when I start JF and click on Intro I get the drive recognized but with a status 0x51...then no matter what I do, power cycle etc I just get 0x52...

Any ideas as to what I might not have or have done incorrectly? This is driving me crazy

BTW I have tried with a 22 and now a 20 ohm resistor...
