18 to 22 ohm has given people good results. 1/4 watt or 1/2 watt is ideal.

I have been using 22 ohm  1/4 w  myself

No i suggest you remove the board.
It does not need the Y Y W W R B wires connected for any part of this hack or even during the reprogramming of the custom firmware.

good to know and very nice tutorial. I just ruined this drive/box so im not sure i'll be trying again lol. the trace in between the two cuts lifted off the board including the eyelet trace. i made it a bit too short by putting the cuts too close together. my soldering skills are impeccable but i would not recommend this for everyone

Agreed great tutorial..just finished my second one and it was flawless...for me I left the board connected to everything and just flipped it over...

The difference I found between the 1st one I did and the one I just finished is make sure you have the right tools...it makes your life SO much easier..i.e. multimeter to make sure that your traces have been cut properly, proper magnification to examine what you are doing..the first time around I thought I wouldn't need all of the little extras but let me tell you it was worth it.

The only way that would happen is your are soldering too hot for too long.
If you have not done any other damage i am able to repair the board. PM me if you want me to look it at it for you.

After I have made the initial -valid- dump, i found it easy to just patch up the traces again... then you can erase/write to the drive anytime you'd like.. like the other liteons

this is what i did, cause i couldnt get it to work, check here . pretty simple, it worked for me. i used a 15ohm 1/2w resistor also. And the maximus Xtractor pro, which is junk, being i couldnt get my keey off with it by bridging the R707 points. still coulnt get it, and im pretty good at soldering, but the Boxxdr Method worked! i got my key smile.gif would show pics of my soldering job, but have nowhere to link them.
Thanks to all involved, sux i payed $52 for maximus junk, and also $18 for the spear.. o well ya live and learn.

You probably had a 9 series, bridging R707 does nothing.
There's no point in talking shit on hardware that you don't understand how to use.

You linked us to a 9 series youtube video, just assumed, because you weren't clear is all.
360Xtractor is a wonderful piece of hardware, many people agree.

sorry for the crapy quality, used my samsung eternity phone.

BTW i used a peice of a fingernail file to scrap, also i put the solder on the wire not the board, FYI use as little solder ass possible. i had a prob with the solder gettin down int the cuts, then groundin to the board. that was a pic of my first atempt, it work but i didnt know about haven to open the bin in target. did the samethin the second time just used smaller wire "30AWG", i think the first time was with 24 or 26 awg, not sure, but the smaller the better....

I know i shouldnt post this here, but here is the Alt R707 point i tried to use with the xtractor, with no luck
