93450c-2. Uh Oh, I Got One. See Pics.

Ok so the outside of the drive says FW 93450c and manuf. date of Sep.2009. Inside, when I went to do the newly released firmware bypass, I look at the pcb and it has a sticker saying 93450c-2?!

Maybe the same method works with this one? Try it yet?

Well, either I messed up, or it wasnt safe. All seemed to go well, I could read/write to the drive with the same datasum each time. I shoved the flashed drive into the xbox and got RROD code 0021. I flashed the original firmware dump and still got the RROD Code 0021. I should mention that my solderless method is the exact same as the MRA method, just using a small copper wire inside the via instead of soldering a wire directly to the via. Cuts were made in the exact same locations, and werent deep, but were deep enough to disconnect the circuit. I reconnected the two cuts with Silver Conductive Paint.

So now my drive is scrap, and its not due to bad soldering skills

Just a heads up. Thank god I preserved my warranty sticker at least!

Have you tried bridging the gaps with solder rather than conductive pen?

Ironic that these stickers are exactly in our new 'modding zone'...

Had one too today - no problems.

yes thats the first thing I noticed was the location of the sticker, not even really the wording on the sticker. It was only afterwards that I actually sat down and looked at the writing that I noticed the -2. Either way, the conductive pen trick failed but the solder did the job nicely (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Makes me wonder what the difference is between the 93450c and the 93450c-2. Over on XBH I have the same thread with the same title and someone mentioned that they can use the 'Make Dummy from iXtreme' option in Jungleflasher, whereas I cannot.

I flashed my drive with the tray half open as usual, and the tray was half open when I attempted to make the dummy. It works on an 83450c apparantly, and it works on my other xbox's 73450c I know for a fact as I have done it twice now.

Hardware-wise I cant see any difference, must just be something on the firmware side of things...

Well if they did then I would say they did a piss poor job of fixing it.. the drive was able to read/write without a problem once I used solder instead of conductive pen. Seems these boards are HIGHLY sensative to resistance.

@superkmk

you seem to have a pretty good understanding of how to correctly dump and flash the lite-on 93450c Dvd drive.

Is it at all possible that you write a quick tutorial on the entire process.
Ie software used.
firmware used
materials
some images.
Or even drawn diagrams

Its just that most of the tutorials on this drive at the moment are very vague. and dont give a full representation of the process.

This would be VERY VERY helpful please (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My Email is [email protected]

PLEASE RESPOND.
Or if anyone has a nice simple tutorial for this 93450c drive
i would appreciate any input

THANKS!
