I'm sorry for how mean i'm about to be, but i'm getting F***ING tired of seeing this question asked!  LT DOESNT REQUIRE ANYTHING! whatever you stick in the drive it will play! weather it has splitvid or not, weather it has proper DMI, proper XEX CRC, ect.  Its your responsibility to make sure that your "legal" backups or downloaded copies are stealth, thats it!  If you didnt have abgx add splitvid if it was not present then YES you will have to reburn all your games IF AND ONLY IF you want to be stealth online.  If you dont add splitvid and you go on LIVE then YOU WILL GET BANNED.  This LT firmware is not going to hold your hand and not boot any disc that is not made/stealthed properly.

I'm glad that I had abgx fix splitvid for all my backups that i burned.  I wanted my discs to look as close to original as possible and that meant having splitvid.  I didnt trust the firmware taking care of that kind of stuff and look what happened, all these checks ended up being what MS was able to detect.  No offense to C4E, without him none of this would be possible, and i deeply respect his work, but I never did like all those checks he added into the firmware for all these noobs to make sure they are "playing safe" online

Of course it could happen, no one is ever 100% safe... just safer than yesterday and hopeful you don't get hit by the banhammer. Anyone who mods and expects to never be banned is ignorant of the cat and mouse game and should probably stick to retail.

Glad to see LT is on it's way... going to apply it to my banned sammy just so I don't have to update it anymore. Might apply it to a new xbox too if I get ballsy enough to do so.

Good show, I'm estatic for a release. Every time I use these ixtreme 1.61 and below firmwares I feel I will be banned, even since I been offline for over 2 months now. Of cause It means being very careful with backing up stuff.

Also for anyone asking questions, common read the entire thread don't be lazy its annoying when you get 10 people in a row asking howto backup stuff for LT and all when its been answered several times before.

I don't know about the others but I read the entire thread and the answer was not in it.

I do not expect the firmware to "hold my hand". I asked a simple question similar to what someone else asked.  My question concerned whether my method of backup (kreon drive in a PC using Xbox Backup Creator) would make a backup containing the SplitVid.  Simple as that.

I withdraw my question since people want to get all huffy here and will ask it in the backup forum.

Simple answer, your Kreon will get you banned, use a 0800 flashed samsung/benq/liteon xbox drive and connect it to your PC THEN run ABGX with disable writes ticked to check your image (level3 and videopadding + splitvid options on).

Thats about it, nothing more to be said, if you run download backups you want padding and splitvid checks on, but they may be missing some SS blocks and you will never know (till your banned) so its all a risk and MS will likely find a way to ban us all in time. We should get a couple months run with LT at least (fingers crossed), extremely hard to predict as know-one knows what MS knows, and if they know anything we don't know as of yet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)






PS. Your question is best suited in the DVD-DL backup forum not here, it has been answered 100 times over there no doubt also.

Try putting your DVD drive back to stock and attempt to use xbox live with a original online and then see. I also think it may be a good idea to format your  storage device before just in-case your profile has stored something while you been playing offline, it may have you flagged OFFLINE and may upload this ban to MS once you go online and ignore the fact you have all stock firmware etc...

And why do you think Kreon will cause bans?  Because of Challenge Types 24 and 25?  Kreon decrypts the expected values... for the time being, that is enough.

For the time being, once they start checking SSv2 challenge responses (which will be soon as LT comes out probably since MS read these forums no doubt) your kreon will be getting you banned. You will find out for yourself anyway...

You have some reading to do...

Microsoft does not check for SSv1 or SSv2; those are scene developed sectors allocated to store the challenge responses.  SSv2 is only important if/when Microsoft decides to get tricky... and when that happens, I suspect it'll make XBox-Scene news.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

That is true, however...if that day comes, would you prefer to be in the group whose vulnerability makes news, or in the group that says "big deal, doesn't affect me"?

On the flip side, if they intended to use it, doesn't it seem like Microsoft would have done so by now?  Perhaps as drives age and lasers deteriorate, it's not reliable enough to be usable for banning?
