83850c Wont Give A Good Dump
« on: November 27, 2009, 03:33:00 PM »

Ive got a 83850c Lite-on drive that has a date of May so it should be flashable and I have done many types of drives before so I am familiar with the process.  I dont know if it matters, but the HW Version is A0A2 on the drive.

Anyway, ive got the CK3 kit but the eject button does not seem to work on it, when I click the eject, nothing happens.  My computer has an Nforce motherboard and built in sata which has always worked for flashing every other drive.  I boot on my computer with the drive attached but power turned off to the drive.  Once booted, I manually pull out the drive all the way and push it in half way and then turn on the power to the drive and load up Jungle Flasher.  It shows the drive just fine. and click LO83info.  I click on OK about powering on the drive half open.  Then it says to pull out the drive so I manually pull it out all the way and click ok. It reads just fine then asks to power the drive half open again.  I then close the tray power it off and power it on, then power it off and manually pull it out, push half way back in and power the drive and click ok...  Then I pull the tray out all the way again and click ok.  It says everything matches and asks to load the ixtreme which the proceeds to say it is a known bad dump and to try again.

Here is some logs.... I hope someone can shed some light on this and let me know if I am doing something wrong or if maybe this drive will just not work with my computer.

That is a known bad dump key.

I remember seeing some threads about this bad dump key but cant remember what the solution is. Try to do a Google or forum search for that drive key and see what you come up with.

It looks like you are doing all the right things. But to be honest I have no idea how to solve your problem.

Have you don other 83850c drives before?

If he uses that key it will not work. He needs to try and get a proper dump before he flashes anything to the drive.

I have not done this type of drive before, it is the first time but have done older Lite-on drives, benq, hitachi and samsung before without problems.

I have not used the key because I know it is a bad key and not sure why I keep getting the key.  It says the Dedication To message and everything so I have no idea why I keep getting the bad key.  I was following up on the drive that you cannot get the key from and thought it was that, but this is a May drive so I am thinking it has to be something else.

While bored of thinking of ways to make money from the "scene" I decided to hex your logs into a spare [BARCODE].bin I had from when I sent the files to VGC for Geremia's freekey.....

Using Seacrests OpenKey, with your Encrypted key, AES Key, AES Offset, IV etc

(IMG:http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l432/OggyBST/XB2S.jpg)

It gave that key.

I dont know much about the decryption routine, but its certainly weird as 140F0F1011B5223D79587717FFD9EC3A key is (in every other case) obtained by decrypting:

Cipher Text of 00000000000000000000000000000000  with an AES key of 00000000000000000000000000000000

As you're aware, this isnt the case for you.

Id try another PC personally, but its REALLY weird you ge that key WITH what seems good ciphertext.

And Jelle, JF will allow that key as source but wont let you spoof it to iX

I do not really have another PC to test with, but I guess that is going to be my only option right now. Thanks everyone for the replies, I will try to track down a friend with another PC that I can use.
