Well no not really, I see it as splitvid being a requirement because they're removing the funky layer redirect from the firmware. Less fancy firmware code, less chance of a ban.

I heard that the SplitVid just has to be right for the disk to be safe. LT will boot the game but booting any game with an improper SplitVid is asking for an instaban

only choice is check em all again 250 disks is alot of work i know iv done my own games recently
even if you have to re-burn them its still cheaper then a new 360 and having to buy them all from shop
250 scene release backups  i can see this topic not lasting long should we continue down that area
try to steer clear of mentioning rg and file names they dont much care for that here

it will take you something like 2 and half days to check each of them disks but it is worth the work
i would think about 10 of the 250 will need the split vid fix at a guess ..

hmmm...good point. Thanks for the info. I guess I need a few days off and some DLs on my Christmas list

How does one check an already burned DVD for split vid?

Can we rip burned DVDs back to ISO?

I've never had these questions answered, thought I'd jump in here =)

You can check an already burned disc, by running abgx and changing the input from "file" to "DVD"  Then put your backup in your drive and read/scan it.  It'll display for you just like it would if you're scanning it from file pre-burn.  You should know this, because you should be running abgx on EVERY disc you burn, errors not only happen during the ripping of the game, but can happen during the burning too!

Edit:  you can NOT alter the disc, once you burned it.  You'll have no choice but to re-rip it and burn it again.  Unless you happen to have the iso still on your pc.

Here's the real ? how much longer do you think Syn201 will remain a member of this community?  I got $5 on 3 hours!

I bet some of my own rips are bad.  I've always used Kreon.  Oh well.  Beggers can't be choosers I always say.

Just to clear it up, say I backed one of my originals to iso, my original is now unreadable but my rip/burned copy is readable.  Could I use Kreon to re-rip it to add SplitVid or is my rip/burned dvd now a paper weight?

Thanks for the info insanityforall!

You can rip it off a backup if you need to.  I personally wouldn't.  Have you ever Xeroxed a Xerox.  With every copy imperfections occur, etc...   I know for a fact it'll work.  I don't know if it's "safe" to do though.

This is one instance where I would take my chances with a downloadable.

its a little different than a xerox copy, Its data.... 1s and 0s, (binary) there is no better quality 1 or 0 and if you copy a 1 or 0 it can only be one or the other. Also, the burn would fail if it didn't copy every bit. I backup my backups using IMG burn and set the layer break manually. Works every time.

If you enable the splitvid check under the Misc tab it tells you just that

That is true.  A CD Copy is supposed to be exact.  Not like a VHS Tape which would degrade after every copy.  So a DVD Copy should be 1 for 1 byte for byte.

jgsieve, I was planning to backup my backups since I lost the original disk.  If you rip to ISO, you should get the exact ISO that you burned.  Then one can use ABGX to correctly Patch, Stealth Check, SlitVid, etc, correct?
