Hi all I have an ms28 dvd drive that will not eject, I have tried changing the drive belt and cleaning all the sliding area, but still it will not eject. When I hook it up to the xbox360 the middle light continuously flashes and when I press the eject button it says closing or opening but still the light flashes. I have made a succesfull dump fo the firmware so I know the circuit is still recieving power but like I say the bloody thing will just not eject. I have searched the forum and have seen the drive belt fix but as I said this did not work. If someone could kindly point me in the right direction I Would be most grateful. Many thanks

first things first,  it sounds like the drive has a bad flash and its causing the drive to be unresponsive.
check your firmware dump and see if its spoofed right (if needed) and the key...

if its all correct,  you should just go ahead and try a different firmware (get from another source/site than the first one)

also check your drives power cable ( check if its backwards, or if some point in it is bridged with another wire)... i had this problem with my ms28 a couple of  times.... some were bad flashes, and others were because of the power cable ( i got a spare one, plugged it in, and that worked)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Thanks for the reply. I can confirm that it is not a bad flash as the drive has been working fine for well over a year, it just seems that since it got banned the console has been acting up, especially with the dvd drive becoming sticky at first then not working at all. I have also tried what you suggested by changing the drive cable all to no affect. I also tried another working drive in the xbox and that seemed to work ok ejecting and opening without any problems at all. Any other ideas however would be gratefully appreciated thanks.

cool.... the eject tray motor might have gone bad....try taking out the tray and see if you can see the motor /hear the motor run....

if you want to fix the drive, go ahead...but take joe9000's advice and just buy a new drive...
my samsung wouldnt power any lasers anymore and instead of buying a pcb board, i just went ahead and bought a benq drive...best investment ive bought for my xbox. fast, quiet, and just as easy to flash....dont know if these drive are xbox live safe, but nothings safe right now....

Hey Blue, can you explain more about this? Thanx.Cuz i have the same problem with my MS28. A few friends say its a bad flash, but I swear im doing everything correct!

same happened to me when flashing to 1.61.... it worked but then I put in MW2 and updated from dvd and I got E74 and green keeps flashing and it wont eject....

If this is a mechanical fault with the drive I have found a fairly simple fix after much experimentation. Remove the drive, remove the cover, remove the drawer belt, then with a very fine soldering iron melt some dimples into the groove where the belt runs - this will cause much better friction on the belt and stop it slipping.

simplest way as mentioned is to just buy new drive there cheap more trouble then worth trying to fix them half time ..
