i'd say they do have stock firmware they'd just prefer to sell the drive along with it.

I say they dont.

They arent offering a restore to stock, they are offering a new drive.

with the 1,000,000 banned console rumor, i'm sure we are soon to see lots of people using their brain to trick people out of money instead of solving problems.

allo they have done is decap a liteon drive controller, and get a copy of the stock FW, the same thing the original hackers did, the only thing new they did was put it to use.

partial flashing a liteon drive is impossible due to the construction of the controller.

the flash must be empty before it can be changed at all.

I wanted to help someone else out. But after registration I could not find that topic and this one catched my attention.

I hope you can go to sleep without worries now.

This whole topic is so stupid.

If you have an original Liteon drive, either put wholesale from the maker, or one from inside a 360 that was never modded before, you can easy change the dvd key.

All drives running stock fw, have a simple cdb command which can upload/update the drive key by themselves, also long as the drive is up and running, you can change the drive key, you can't read it back,
but you can write it.

How dumb, anyone can offer this service, you don't need to have the original liteon firmware, just a good supply of untouched liteon drives.

You do need to know how to send the cdb command, current programs don't support just uploading the drive key, as most people want to read their existing key, if that was in a modding program you would end up with lots of people wiping their key, and complaining.

But it can be done with lots of simple existing command line tools which can send cdb commands to the drive.

Shit, I could offer this service also, but currently I am buying wholesale the BenQ drives as they are only $12.48 each in lots of 10, but if that supply runs out, no problem start buying stock original Liteon drives.

thanks for the info. i wasn't aware that the key could be changed independently of the typical erase/write process. learn something new every day (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Sorry, but the cdb command only changes the dvd key, so if your liteon has already been flashed to ixtreme, it is stuck that way. -- Your only solution is to replace the drive with a new liteon which is already running stock firmware, and then using the special cdb update key command to change the key, as once the liteon drive is erased, there is no original fw to flash. -- The reason for people like this one charging for basically a new stock drive basically re-key with your original drive info.

Could you enlighten us?
I think many here are thinking the same thing as I, you mention this in two threads now, but no info as to what the command line app is called.

I will see if I can write up a short tutorial on how to do it yourself, and post it here. -- At the moment little busy with tons of PS3 repairs, but check back in 48 hours or less for an update. -- If you can't wait go over to xboxhacker.net and use their working search and research it and you will see it is all there.
