Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
« on: March 08, 2006, 10:46:00 PM »

For those that havent had a chance to get it, or look at it yet, it looks like they've completely departed from the past file structures and gone with the Rainbow Six structure.  I dont have much experience with modding the R6 series, but messed with Spinter Cell some, which from what I know was somewhat similiar.  This may be deemed as goodnews, there's no umd format that needs extraction.

Anyone interested and has more info on file types such as .utx (textures), .usx (models??), .occ, among others I'd like to hear about them.

for all you say you have helped with (in gr2 department thats cool)but you also did start what led to the cheating wave on kai and xbc,so ill keep it short dude, dont fuck this one up

But adding maps is perfectly fine in my opinion
textures can be opened up in unreal edit after version build number has been changed and a strange thing is the maps come up blank in the root folder and for that matter i am not sure were ther located within in the game(of course what im hoping is when the pc version comes out,the editor will be much teh same and everything from this version will be able to be opened

ps utx and usx are whats used in every rainbow/unreal  game for textures and static meshes

dude, i'm not gonna start a flaming war with you.  period.  but i will say 2 things.  one, i take little credit for any gr2 modding.  i'm not an expert.  a lot of that credit can be contributed to vikingpower (known here as frohanss and did the bloodpatch) for his knowledge and barranger for his phoenix ike tool.  i figured a few things out on my own and hosted/admined the site.  thats it.  so i'm not trying to act like an expert, i just pass on what i figure out and what i've learned from others.  but thanks for any positive credit you are giving me.  second, we can debate the whole cheating thing till we're both blue in the face.  there is no way that i am solely, or even greatly responsible for it.  what i had posted on was not that hard to figure out.  and i'm sure i wasnt the first to figure it out.  perhaps i prematurely posted the info without thinking, but sooner than later, probably sooner, that info would have been out.  even viking got the fact that i wasnt out to encourage cheating at all.  for any responsibility that others (you seem to be the only one) believe i had in it, i'll say i'm sorry.  so lets just put that to bed and leave it that way.

moving on.

thanks for the info.  after playing some of the game, i doubt i'll be doing much with it.  its no gr2.  not even graphically, but thats just my opinion, and everyone knows the saying about opinions.  i think i may even like grit better than it.  maybe i just spoiled it for myself by looking at every piece of video and screen that came out from the 360 version.  i think its time that i just suck it up and get a 360.  or wait it out for the pc version.  console to pc is just gonna be a hard transition to make.

anyway, this isnt the game review forum, or pc forum, or whatever.  enjoy modding it.  i just dont think i will.

i dont wanna mod i t i just wanna add levels and thats it

about cheating regardless carefull of the info you put out ther people use it to fuck servers up

360 is the greatest rigth now but when ther is no competition its kinda hard to even have a fucking market
games are good, much more intricate ya i bought the 360 versoin and yes i play on live with it.the point being i like adding maps to the xbox version expanding it more than what we were givin

Just gonna add my 2 cents.  Most of the cheating on XBC and Kai was acheived by glitches in the game coding and not by anything Kwik, Vikingpower(frohanns), myself or anyone else did to the game.  Usually, anything we did to the game files required all users to have the same game files or we'd all get the big red X.  Cheating was never the goal and we have kept secret much of the info that we obtained.  Stuff that general XBC/Kai users will ever figure out, but could lead to major cheating issues.  Don't spout off about cheaters until you can actually bring facts and acurately point fingers.  You have just been a complete ass on this board and are generally no help to anyone.  What have you brought to the table and know about this game as far as modding/hacking?  We've accomplished more than you'll ever know about and none of it lead to any cheating.

disturbed i dont consider taking pc files from a game with the same extension(sometimes even changing the extension) and putting them into another gamei dont call that modding or cheating but cutting and pasting

if the search function was working correctly i could find the exact post in which yoru boyfriend mrjkwik states exactly what everything from the ike something global file does(this is actually the reason why i deleted this game and never plan to buy it thanks dude, regardless of playing it on live)

he goes on in detail how and what everylittle gun setting does

scripting is hardly modding aswell dont kid yourself buddy

and if you new anything about realy writing some code, for all the bullshit remarks you come up with one would think there would be some kind of punkbuster made by dizturbd?mmm i dont see it

did anybody create a new gr2 or gr2 ss map?no actually they didnt

if i post what i have found out for games, just about all titles on system link would be ruined so please lets not kid yourself of that?but if you still dont believe me pm me u can set up a room on kai/xbc any game u want and i garantee i have something godlike you yourself havent found out

but in the end of course cheating is much easier than any real modding(actually adding in guns, bombs or maps),and scripting is the same as writing a txt document.Thats why ther's no REAL mods for any xbox games

oh ya disturbed what have you added to the community?smart ass?

Are you really an ass, or just 12?  I have yet to talk to you in such an assinine way.  Nor have I ever claimed to be a genius or revolutionary.  As a matter of fact, heres a quote from the thread you cant seem to leave alone
QUOTE
as i said, for you experienced modders, what i've done is nothing groundbreaking. just me learning.
So your insults are a waste.

The problem with you isn't what you know (which I never questioned, though I dont know what you do know), its how you come across.  Grow up buddy.  I personally buried what happened what, something over a year ago.  Funny how your the only one bothered by it.

As far as finding the thread, it wasnt that hard.  But just to appease the almighty Maiden, I wont relink it.  But if you put in the time to find it, and reread it, I had mentioned several times BEFORE the post your complaining about, that I was a beginner.  You had plenty of chances to give me a helpful and say "Hey kwik, I see where your headed, please dont post it, it could lead to cheating."  Instead, you posted
QUOTE
good work mrjkwik if your on msn ill help you more with your progress
AFTER I had posted the info that you keep complaining about.  Frohanss mentioned it, but I believe it was after the fact.  And after reviewing the thread, all I said is what I had done, not a detailed "how to" or all the information on what every little thing did.  In short, dude, let it go.  The continued insults and fingerpointing, and the limited 4 letter vocabulary is a joke.  If your so damn smart, apply it and convey that knowledge so that others can learn from it.

If all your interested in is coming back with some more insults, save it.  Not interested.  And it's pointless to this thread.  I already said I wont be modding it, I'm dissappointed in the game itself.  Graphically and gameplay.  If you have something constructive, by all means, help these guys out.  If you have something good to teach, I'm all ears.

Humility and maturity are your friends.

one thing before i continue with the important issue.... please stop the flaming and bickering in the scene, just gets annoying after a while. Thank you.

Now, this game I have found to be HIGHLY moddable. This game literally has just about a dds image for everything and an ini for every item in the game. It is just about the same as Splinter Cell chaos theory with the files (DynamixXbox.ini etc...) and has that structure. I have also seen quite a few .wav, .wma and some other music filetypes that can be altered, lol....what fun that always is to edit.... also the ini's i have not taken a look at in detail. There is a _debug.ini file which i'm not sure what it includes but I have a feeling this games moddable features will be as a structure of rainbow six and splinter cell if i hadnt already said that before.

I am just letting you guys know just what is in this game, also I have seen some .xml files too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif). So in my opinion... this game belongs in my easiest moddable games list dont ya think? Hope everybody gets along and mods this game nicely as I already am doing Half life 2 so theres no time for me.

as i said before watch what the fuck you say people do abuse info

as i said before use unreal edit for textures and need to change hkmeshproxy(hong kong mesh program something the design team is obvoisuly from shanghi they used something slightly different to create static mesh, look at the names in the code) to package so static meshes load properly

and yes textures are so highly moddable u can even put a replica of yourself in the game(that is if the ego is ther for ya).But i just made a white lookin person instead of the spanic who is the default face

i myself would like to be able to open up the maps or possibly make some of my own/and i would like to see some from others as well, but when the maps are labeled as 0kb for space its kinda hard to determine whether is a file that is hidden or encrypted.

i would honestly say that I and anybody else interested should check into the pc version of this game as it probably has a more upto date map editor but agian that gr3 is much different than this,so i would say incompatible but for the most part and any other game using unreal engine, and including the fact that ther was a pc version of the same game, parts of lots of different games are interchangable.

and the sdk opens most sounds textures and data files stand alone but i dont have the most upto date version agian

that is all for now

the pc version is going to be of little or no use.  at least thats a pretty big assumption on my part.  i've decided to forgo the cost of getting a 360 for now till there is more than one killer app out for it, and have been reading up on the pc version.

the pc game is being developed as an entirely different game from the xbox or 360 version.  different studio alltogether (GRIN Studios).  Other than the basic story line, gameplay and everything is supposed to be quite different.  Screens for it so far are looking comparable or even better than the 360 version, depending on your tastes.

just stating what i know about the pc version so far.

From what I've experienced in this game, it's not worth wasting time over.  Who cares how moddable it is if it's un-playable.  I will not be wasting my time either modding/hacking this or playing it.  The Ubisoft team in charge of this "steaming pile" should be kicked in the nuts by every person unfortunate enough to purchase this version.

i still have have a 360 but i like to play games people in the community add content too over the game developers

and agian i comment on 360 games its personal preference but cod2 is worth the money,i saw what graw is and have played it and it was just a much better gr2 experience for me but nothing new,i saw wait for that new farcry and the outfit is just bad ass.

not to take it off topic, but outfit looks pretty fast paced?  kinda like battefield 2 speed?  not sure personally.  i like the slower tactical feel.  all personal preference i guess.

i'll definately be getting a 360 though.  i'm looking forward to playing graw360, gears of war looks cool, pgr3, and a few other on the horizon.  it will probably be closer to september for me.  so hopefully there are more worthwhile titles out then, rather than just a handful.

anyway, back to modding.  i can understanding playing other content, thats one thing that makes dlc nice.  other than checking out some custom halo maps, i've never played other "modders" content.  but unfortunately, i think much focus has been moved away from the xbox.  thats why there seems to be lackluster games coming out.  they just dont care.  also why there isnt nearly as much modding going on as well.

so goes life.  things change.

I was thinking since this is the same engine as rainbow six would be cool if we switch models, your teammate would have a rainbow six unform on. Or in rainbow six your teammates would have ghost recon unforms on.
