What Firmware To Use On Banned Console
« on: November 08, 2009, 11:11:00 PM »

So, if you had a banned console what would be the best firmware to go back to that will play all games regardless of wave and stealth check etc.  I am not thinking of a specific drive.  Would it depend on the drive (obviously the Liteon's only have iXtreme 1.5,1.51 or 1.6).

Lite-on - No non-stealth option at this time. Use iX1.6 and active.iso
Benq - iX 1.41 non stealth (its on xbins)
Samsung - Xtreme 5.3
Hitachi - Xtreme 1.7 ?? i am not sure

liteon ix1.51 has waveX support so that would be preferrable to using activate.iso

for everything else, i would definitely choose whichever fw release is the most recent that also includes a hack for slower(& quieter) drive speeds

No it doesn't, I have a lite-on with 1.51 and it won't boot wave4 games.. only wave 3 and below.

i am willing to be wrong, but i was passing on that from the file called ix151.txt included with the Lite-on_iXtreme_v1.51-FINAL release

"TEAM JUNGLE Presents IXtreme 1.51 firmware for all drives
---------------------------------------------------------

IXtreme fw for all drives!

Features
--------

Wave X support

Support of future Waves of X360 game disc structures. New partition sizes and video data will be automatically supported and will be allowed to boot.

This represents a possibility of booting a bad backup but now that there is some good tools out there (like abgx360) to check your backups before you boot them, the risk is small.

So please check your backups to ensure consistency with the original!

Full support to flash all drives in the new Jungleflasher (0.1.51) including easy upgrade for Liteon iX1.5 drives (WIll get all info inc key from drive over SATA)"

Welcome to abgx360.net

Looks like we were wrong in assuming that iXtreme v1.51 was fully compatible with 4th Wave PFI/Video. Turns out that only Hitachi iXtreme v1.51 will boot 4th Wave backups, and BenQ/LiteOn/Samsung iXtreme v1.51 will NOT boot 4th Wave. It would have been fully compatible if only the Video data had changed but not with the change in PFI (capacity). So currently the only safe option for booting 4th Wave backups on a BenQ/LiteOn/Samsung drive is to use iXtreme v1.6 and the one shot boot disc.
