I had this picture in my bookmarks showing the alternate points in RED.

When you solder r707 the serial signal is sent thru the dvd power connector to the serial interface. Make sure on your DVD power cable that you have 12 wires. (you really only need 11 but f you have all 12 then i know you will get it right!) The power cable that comes with the 360 only has 10. The 2 spares are TX and RX. Then on your homemade extractor solder a wire from your probe lead to TX point.
Every lite-on i have ever done here is done this way using my homemade extractor.
Here is why!
When you use the probe method that means for lite-on's power connector goes in upside down and all other drives it goes in the other way. It is just a matter of time before you mess up and toast a drive. The connectors plugs in upside down way too easy!
With the probe you are poking around at live circuits. It just seems risky if you are not carful. once i solder r707 i inspect and test with my multimeter. Reassamble drive and then read the key. It has nevered failed me ever!
So if your not getting the data from r52 point then either your tool does not work right or you did fry the TX in the lite-on. (be thankful it still works)
To test your tool you would need to get another LO74 drive and verify everything is working.
So are you saying solder a wire from the probe and plug it into the Tx on the power cable, after I would do that do I need to probe around anywhere with another probe or bridge anything? Do I actually need to solder onto the R707 point using this method or just have the wire into the power connector??
