I can't say i totally disagree with you. People should be making proper backups (of games they legally own)
Anyone playing games early and getting banned did get what they deserved.
But as someone that offers modification services, it is very bad negitive publicity to hear hundreds of people saying they got thier firmware modded and now they are banned.
I think you're overstating the case.
Currently, the firmware won't boot a bad backup. At this point, the user either learns to use the tools to rip and verify correctly, or they use activate.iso and become a ban waiting to happen.
All you're changing by taking stealth check out of the firmware is process. Instead of expecting the 360 to inform you of a bad backup after the fact when it won't boot, let ABGX handle that before you burn instead. Anybody who thinks that's too confusing just shouldn't be swimming in these waters.
The only people I can see really being affected are people who purchase backups from their local dealer, since they have no clue about such things. Frankly, I don't feel much for people buying backups, and I certainly have no sympathy for anyone selling them.
It comes down to the same old issue: do you give a man a fish, or do you teach him to fish for himself? People who would be banned if the firmware didn't protect them simply need to learn a better way.
