Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this. In win 7 there is a virtual XP mode. Has anyone tried to flash a drive in this mode? Just curious. I have my system set to dual boot, runnin 64 bit win 7 and 32 bit xp,but wondering if this way would work as well. I would try it if I had a spare drive to try. Anyone??

Probably not a good idea to virtualize.

All the answers here point for a very good performance of Windows 7 x86.

The 64x version needs some attention of software creators for compatibility and special the drivers!

Maybe Geremia, carranzafp, C4eva, maximus, etc, can make it happen for us.

Let's hope they read this post and use Windows 7, too!

i am running windows 7 x64. i was planning on upgrading my liteon from 1.51 to 1.6 so i can load up some wave 4 backups. so i should use dosflash64 to get the key and then do everything else in dos? that will work?

if ur upgrading for 1.51 to 1.6 and have ur dummy.bin saved somewhere, use that to make ur ix1.6 in jungleflasher, then use l-o-eras.exe in dos to erase the drive with status 72. then use dosflash to write the hacked fw. if you don't have the fw, u can either re-extract with a probe and dosflash64 in windows 7 64-bit, or use a 32-bit operating system and use the dummy from ixtreme option in jungleflasher.

is it simple enough to use the probe with doslfash64? i've only ever used it with jungleflasher.

For the driver problems in Windows 7 x64, use the same Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider that is available to Vista x64. It's the BEST tool ever!

I've flashed Hitachi 79's and BenQs in Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate, both 64-bit with JF and DosFlash64.

did 3 different liteons on win 7 ultimate (x86) with portio32

used onboard via + drivers for the sata...have a 6421 and didn't need it

all flashed w/ most current jf ver

oh and I couldn't get the maximus probe to work in jungleflasher on 78450's...had to use the maximus app

Currently, jungleflasher does not support x64 operating systems and the main limitations are simple, portio driver for x64 (tho schtrom wrote one, you need to disable driver signing enforcement as previously pointed out in this thread) and support for said driver within the app itself. With the current version of jungleflasher, you can only flash hitachi drives using winapi, as these drives do not actually require portio to communicate with jf.
So, as others have said, if you are going to upgrade to win7 and want to use jungleflasher, use x86 version, if you really want to use x64, you are stuck with dosflash64.
Don't believe anyone that says they have installed portio32 in x64 os, it doesn't work (the hint is in the name)e
