Windows 7 X86 And X64 And Jungleflash And Other Tools
« on: October 24, 2009, 10:07:00 AM »

Hi All,

   Since new Windows 7 is here to stay, I want to know, how many of you have tried it, using  jungleflash and other tools and about it’s success.

1 – What version of Win7
2 – How did you install drivers, or which tuts you used for it?
3 – What drive(s) you experience
4 – What hardware (Xtractor360, CK3, Xbox360 power, Other)
5 – With software you work with
6 – What were the results?

Best Regards

Using win 7 ultimate all drives ok besides hiachi 79 I do a dual bot and load xp for that one might be just me but it has problems flashing.Besides that it works better in 7 than it does in xp and quicker.Also run everything as administrator just right click and select it dosflashg32 wont load unless you do that.

i tried my first flash on Win7 Ultimate 64 yesterday and i was unsuccessful. JF would not recognize my drive on the MTKFlash screen, assuming it's because i couldn't install portio drivers

i tried dosflash 1.8. i even went through all the bs of turning of UAC, signing the driver, and putting it into "test" mode. it appeared to recognize my drive when i opened it, but it hung up during the very first step. so i gave up

i assume it'll work fine on 32-bit, but i could be wrong. i just went ahead and moved my modding equipment over to my XP computer

1 – What version of Win7
A= Win7 x86 Ultimate

2 – How did you install drivers, or which tuts you used for it?
A= Jungle Flasher Tut. Drivers for via 6241 installed easily, vista driver for ck3. Disable via driver as per normal instructions in tut.

3 – What drive(s) you experience.
A= Samsung, Hitachi all flavours, BenQ, Liteon 7XXXX, all 1.66JF no problems.

4 – What hardware (Xtractor360, CK3, Xbox360 power, Other)
A= CK3 Pro + Spear, Via 6241 pci card. On board Sata for Hitachi drives.

5 – Which software you work with
A= Jungle Flasher 1.66, 165, 164 etc etc

6 – What were the results?
A= All positive and very very easy to use. One point run JF as administrator, set it to run like this all the time from shortcut and its good.

Had a lot of problems with JF and Win 7 X64 ultimate. So i stick with a dual boot method (XP)for Hitachi drives. All other drives are done with USB modification tool removes the problem of windows full stop.

There are no mixed answers. Windows 7 works fine. Just don't get a 64-bit operating system. You aren't going to lose any flashing capabilities with a 32-bit Windows 7 environment.

... So at this time we only need the great developers to add 64x compatibility to their great peace of software’s, especially jungleflasher! Or at least some programmer who create an install app for portIO64 (32) to Windows 7 x64. At this time as you all stated it's the only problem.

And any one has tried boot in DOS and use tools like dosflash?

For me, I can flash all drives under win 7 except hitachi. Win 7 just doesn't appear to see the hitachi drive.
I'm using the x86 version, RTM build of win 7.

I installed the 32 bit portio driver manually on my setup as this includes an intel chipset. (Manually seems to be the only way that works for me).

Is there anything else I need to do to get win 7 to see the hitachi drive? It uses winAPI for that, right?

Thanks

Win7 works fine on Hitachi drives as i said above, if using Via 6241 pci card then it doesnt like hitachi drives too much, i use the on board motherboard sata ports for all hitachi drives and it works perfect, still Win7 just different sata port.

ive had windows 7 64-bit since the beta was out. for samsung, benq u can do every step with dosflash64. for liteons you can extract the key in dosflash64 but have to erase and write with dos. hitachis u need to use 32-bit. jf wont work in 64-bit until a portio installer is made for it, or it is made to work with the 64-bit driver from dosflash

Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this. In win 7 there is a virtual XP mode. Has anyone tried to flash a drive in this mode? Just curious. I have my system set to dual boot,runnin 64 bit win 7 and 32 bit xp,but wondering if this way would work as well. I would try it if I had a spare drive to try. Anyone??
