quote "Welcome to abgx360.net

Looks like we were wrong in assuming that iXtreme v1.51 was fully compatible with 4th Wave PFI/Video. Turns out that only Hitachi iXtreme v1.51 will boot 4th Wave backups, and BenQ/LiteOn/Samsung iXtreme v1.51 will NOT boot 4th Wave. It would have been fully compatible if only the Video data had changed but not with the change in PFI (capacity). So currently the only safe option for booting 4th Wave backups on a BenQ/LiteOn/Samsung drive is to use iXtreme v1.6 and the one shot boot disc."

Well, what i had in mind, was patching with PPF Patch.
I still have Live, but i'm pushing my luck with playing patched games on other not-Live profile.

I think he means, as some of us have discovered already, that wave 4 won't boot on those 3 drives if they have iXtreme 1.51 firmware. After all, the topic of this thread is wave 4.

1.51 is no good for wave 4, unless you have a Hitachi drive.

I found this to be true some days ago, most people didn't seem to want to believe that and only wanted to  trust their own opinion or belief. Which, unfortunately, the responsible for the abgx360 site still seem to do, as they haven't changed the "IF you are on iXtreme 1.51, then ANY wave will boot fine, including Wave 4" on their frontpage (and as quoted in the initial post of this thread). But as it now is turning out, it's all wrong, unfortunately.

For now, until an updated firmware is released, the best and most practical drive, amusingly enough, is the Hitachi 1.51, if you are going to run into wave 4.

Does BenQ / Lite-On / Samsung not work the same on 1.51? (as a hitachi?)

Will a BenQ, on firmware 1.51 run a wave 4 game?

why do you say this? I have never had any problems with 1.51 on Samsung / BenQ or Lite-On Drives? what do you mean by it? - sorry if I am missing the point  biggrin.gif

I've heard this quite a bit as well, Lite-On with 1.51 playing wave4 games perfectly without being patched.. Can anyone confirm?

No you still need the boot disk so the disk can be booted.

The only drive that will load wave 4 games on 1.51 firmware is a Hitachi drive.
