If you had bothered to read the initial post in this thread you would see;
"The disk is available here:READ THE ARTICLE and needs to be burned to a DUAL LAYER disk, but entirely on the first layer (do not set a layerbreak and when imgburn prompts, tell it to burn to the first layer only)."
Hey hooked on phonics worked for me!!

Wow you need some social skills or something, but anyways.

Your reply is so far off from my original post, I don't know where even to start.

Luckily NoseBreaker, at the expense of wasting a disc, proved the other guide doesn't work.

I could have read this guide posted here 100 times, I was only pointing out that this guide and the other guide posted here:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=693767&st=0&p=4543586&#entry4543586
ask you to do two different things when it comes to the two layers of the dual disc.
which came from this recent post #33: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=693730&st=30

I'm glad hooked on phonics worked for you, I didn't need it. smile.gif

Wrong, you should not be autofixing your own rips.  Just because they're not in the database doesn't mean they need to be "fixed" in any way.  That's not what the feature is intended to do.  Rip your games twice and compare the CRCs; if they match, you're set (ignore the RAW CRC since it will always vary due to jitter/disc angle value).  If you autofix your own rips, all you're doing is replacing known good data to make your rip look exactly like everybody else's.  And if I have to explain what that means, forget it--I don't feel like having that discussion.

i know a guy who used that logic ripped his own games never fixed them he said there safe ect hes now banned didn't even run level two on his own games like your meant to ,myself ill stick to 3 and full verbosity myself  ..

im told it dosent matter if burn one or two layers i would stick with one if that works im down to my last 70 od dual layer disks so i cant try it  tongue.gif ..

actually, all the rips always pass stealh.   The only errors I get are the crc errors or the ini file or something.  I pretty much do what Toddler was saying.  As long as stealth passes why patch with the the data base online.  W/e though.  I haven't been online since the jtag hack came out anyway LOL wink.gif

All I'm saying was that the guide was wrong. Why would abgx post the directions if they were wrong? Nothing wrong with me, I read everything before I posted.

Great info

So from the point of view of those who provide a flashing service, what would be the general practice now?

a) to install iXtreme 1.51
cool.gif to install iXtreme 1.6 and advise / give customer a disc?
c) advise customer to wait for 1.6 update? (will this be 1.7? or 1.6.#)
d) other?

I just update 6 of my friends 1.4 firmware to 1.6, would it be best now to give them all a disc? or downgrade to 1.51?

I would guess sticking with 1.6 and using the disc would be best?

I've been to lazy to upgrade from 1.4 & was going to go up to 1.6 any day now. After reading this though I'll just wait for 1.7.

Keep up the great work guys!

1.51 won't even work with most drives (only Hitachi), so it's best to stick to the disc, yeah.

ill stick with ixtreme 1.4 and patching with ppfomatic         i patched cars race o rama today and it plays just fine

sometimes you have to think to yourself.... if i were to get to the point where i download a game as immature, rediculous, and bad as "cars race o rama" and patch it and play it, just because i can get it for free i would do some SERIOUS re evaluation of my life... smh

?????  Ummm..
Hitachi actually is the only drive that doesnt have 1.6 because it doesnt suport 0800 mode.

Its always funny going though these threads seeing all the dopes that have to ask the same simple questions over and over trying to give people the answers.

I think he means, as some of us have discovered already, that wave 4 won't boot on those 3 drives if they have iXtreme 1.51 firmware. After all, the topic of this thread is wave 4.

1.51 is no good for wave 4, unless you have a Hitachi drive.

I found this to be true some days ago, most people didn't seem to want to believe that and only wanted to  trust their own opinion or belief. Which, unfortunately, the responsible for the abgx360 site still seem to do, as they haven't changed the "IF you are on iXtreme 1.51, then ANY wave will boot fine, including Wave 4" on their frontpage (and as quoted in the initial post of this thread). But as it now is turning out, it's all wrong, unfortunately.

For now, until an updated firmware is released, the best and most practical drive, amusingly enough, is the Hitachi 1.51, if you are going to run into wave 4.

I understand that Ixtreme 1.51, outside Hitachi drives, and 1.6 will not play wave 4 back ups, but what about originals? I ask because many of my friends who systems I have flashed will be purchasing, or have pre ordered, Modern Warfare 2 and if that is a wave 4 game will it play fine since it is an original, or would they still need to use the boot disc? MW2 may be a wave 3 so if it is no biggie, but if it is wave 4 it would be nice to know ahead of time if any wave 4 original disc will work with current newest Ixtreme FW.

But do we know whether that condition is logged?  If I'm Microsoft and I can see that people suddenly can't tell the difference between a 360 game and blank media every time they play Wave4 games, I smile and dust off the ban hammer.

If they used that as a reason to ban then they would end up banning legit people who don't have a modded drive if they happen to put a blank disk in the drive that they thought they had burnt a movie too.

It is not against the Live tos if you happen to put a blank disk into your drive by mistake.

The occasional mistake, of course not.  But if you happen to do it repeatedly, just seconds before every time you launch Wave4 games, and only then, how obvious is that?  They're not stupid.
