More Details About 'Wave 4' from abgx360 - v1.0.2 coming soon *update*
« Reply #105 on: October 24, 2009, 12:40:00 PM »

Guys, I am running a Benq with 1.6. I have burned the Activate.iso according to th procedure listed here and elsewhere. I put it in the drive.....press play DVD, and get the white screen that says "Please insert this disc into an Xbox360" in various languages. I eject it and put in a Wave 4 backup, it always says Play DVD, and when I press play I get a White Screen with the 360 Ball in the middle.
Any ideas from the masses?

I turned Autoplay off to ensure that i have to hit the button that says play DVD. I do that , then eject, insert the backup and it still sees it as a dvd.

Either the activate.iso is burnt incorrectly or you are not on 1.6 firmware

Ok guys, I'd like to think that I'm not a newbie to these issues, but this Wave 4 stuff is driving me mad. I am having the same issues as Calley

My X360 has a Lite-on drive, which I've flashed and is running IX 1.6

I've burnt the Activate.ISO disk (twice now in fact, once using IMG burn and the other with cloneCD).

Have always burnt my backups using Clone.

So, I run the Activate disk, get the white screen with the multi-languages on it, eject without powering off, insert the W4 backup and just get the white screen with the Xbox 360 logo.

My questions, which I cant seem to find the answers for are:

Should I be using IMGburn for the backups instead of clone?
Does the appearance of the White screen with the X360 logo indicate a bad burn> (for reference, I've had 2 of these now, both different titles).

The 360 is about 3 weeks old as my original machine bit the dust.

I'd really appreciate some thoughts and advice on this one.

Thanks in advance

Make sure you are burning only to the first layer of the dual layer disk.  ImgBurn will let you know that the file you want to burn will fit on the first layer and want you to confirm.  By default, ImgBurn wants to split it into both layers equally when this is the case, that is why it asks you to confirm to the first layer only.

I have the same and no problems as of yet.

Don't hit anyting. Insert activator,  wait for the tray to display the "play dvd" message, don't press a, eject, insert wave4.

Ok, so I get all that has to happen, its making it happen that seems to be my trouble.

I suspect that I'm burning the Activate disk wrongly. Can someone please post the exact settings from IMGburn to set to when burning the activate disk.

I know that its gotta be on the single layer, thats all cool. I just wanna make sure that I've got all the other settings correct.

It has to be sooooo simple and I'm just failing at the mo!

Thanks in advance

A lot of people have set the layerbreak up in imgburn and this causes the activate to burn with that layer break.

Go into settings/write/ make sure it is set to calculate optimal.

save and then load up activate.iso with a blank dl disk

It will then tell you this image does not need to go on a double layer disk do you want to continue

choose yes

it will then say about breaking from the normal and burning it all to the first layer (this is what you wany)

Takes longer to write lead in and lead out then it does to burn the disk.

Once burnt insert into xbox and click A to play dv

Press eject when white screen comes up and insert your wave 4 game and it will load up.

If it is your first wave 4 game it will ask you to update etc just allow it and then system will reboot etc.

Once updated you will have to do the activate process again.

This seems straight forward enough until the final step.

Where is the video.iso or PFI.bin file in an ISO image?

5-This step has to be done everytime we select a wave 4 ISO:

_Patch even if steath passes
_Patch even if these files are invalid
_Patch video and select the video.iso
_Patch PFI and select the PFI.bin

???

Sorry about this as I must appear to be thick now! LOL

Ok, this is getting pretty damned annoying. My Backup of Backyard Football worked just like it was supposed to. (Kid #1 off my back). BUT Lips #1 Hits (Wife) and Bakugan Brawlers (kid #2) are still coming across as DVDs. White Screen with the 360 Circle in the middle....so I am at somwehat of a loss to explain what is going on now.
