so let me see if i have this right i am using a samsung drive with ixtreme 1.6 if i use the activate iso disc i can play wave 4 games without being banned from live

I was using 1.51 for this very reason.  I've only installed 1.6 on two machines (no prizes for guessing what drives they were).

Unfortunately I have a 1.51 flashed LiteOn... And I'd chosen 1.51 instead of 1.6 because they stated that 1.51 didn't do wave check...

I guess I'll wait a little longer to see what's coming up in the next weeks, don't want to upgrade and then a few days later a new ixtreme shows up.

Can you play wave 4 games on 1.51 LiteOn? Or that was 1.51 on another drive that plays wave 4?

Hitachi runs Wave 4 Partition Backup disks on 1.51.  Lite On will need 1.6 with the Activate.iso disk.

Ok thanks, I know I seen it some where but I could not remember if is was all 1.51 or only one type of drive

Hi guys I dont think Forza 3 is wave 4 as I ripped it the day before release and have been so far happily playing it on XB Live with a liteon 1.6 everyday since (even with yesterday's update)

PS: Since the advent of wave4 as a security measure I decided it prudent to rip without video padding. It's the best I could come up with (I could have it wrong) I hope a version of XBC comes out soon (hopefully with accompanying firmware) that patches the NXE update to the vid partition (given the recent rash of updates since NXE maybe MS have decided it better to leave updates to live seeing as new consoles are comming out with NXE pre-loaded I guess they're worried about the JTAG exploit:-)  everything is interconnected

seen as its wave 3 i would rerip it i dont much like things with padding missing kinda throws a big red flag up,
if the firmware comes good i would be happy and would gladly donate some funds to whoever should they want it if not ill have to stick to the boot disk as much as i dont like to use it if i get banned doing so then ill have to buy new console pref a mw2 limited edition one  
i dont think wave is a security measure i think they coldent fit the new nxe on the old wave 3 partiton where it used to be im no doubt wrong mind ..
i dont think jtag works atm on newer 360s only people who i have seen with some form of success have rrod there box doing it had to restore nand then   to get working

I heard the new wave 4 ixtreme was coming out today, does anyone know any sites where its popped up yet? p.s. read back quite a bit and lots of talk about 1.51 playing wave 4 but isn't it only hitachi drives that do this and none of the others?

It is out and released for the Samsung and BenQ Drives only.  Lite-On Drive Support is in the works.

Ahhh I'm so confused by the mixed tones in these comments.

If I have 1.51 (and all of the xboxes i've modded) is it ok to play wave 4 games?

I have a lite-on as well most of the boxes.  Some have benq's some sammy's but no hitachis.
