When wave3 first came out people reported that original wave3 games worked. The reason behind this is that the iXtreme firmware first checks the disk to see if its original or backup. If it's original then it runs the exact code a unflashed drive would run and therefore performs exactly as M$ intended.

So while i have not tried it myself I am almost certain that a original wave4 game will play just fine on all versions of xtreme and ixtreme.

I don't see why there would be any additional risk in playing a wave4 original with hacked firmware.

UPDATE!

After a chat with a "friend of mine" it is in fact a way to detect modded consoles. Any changes to firmware or angle is now logged in the flash of the 360 and automatically reported back to MS. He alluded to the fact that there will be "many upset modders" on November 8 when they login to Live and are required to dl an update. Seems suspicious since Modern Warfare 2 releases the next day?!?!?

So it looks like even using v1.51 is unsafe and will result in a ban as well

How would they know there's a change in f/w, when all hacked f/w is spoofed as stock?

Here we go again, Mass Hysteria!

Don't believe anything about banning just yet, and please keep this thread technical. No one cares about your "theories". Clearly an update is needed, but we don't need speculation on whether or not this is detectable by LiVE.

And I realize I am no mod or anything, I just hate to see my favorite threads turn into a "comments" section.

For those of us with older firmware versions, I can't even remember which version I have, will the old way of patching wave 3 games to wave 2 still be applicable in this case?  Can we use the same method to patch a wave 4 game to work on the firmware that worked with patched wave 3 games?

Thanks

Does the iXtreme team have a blog or website?  ...or are they secret and just post firmware and go back into hiding? smile.gif

I'm just wondering if they have anything to say about wave 4, etc...

The other way is to raise your kids not to destroy your stuff.

Yeah, I don't know how old his "kids" are, but if they're old enough to play Mass Effect, they're old enough not to destroy multiple copies of a game or to just live without after destroying them.

As for this wave, the NXE update on there, is that the one that wipes out the possibility of homebrew?

i seen some posts about unable to get the activate disk to work. remember to use the same dl blanks you would normaly use and burn with clone not imgburn. i remember this was a issue when 1.6 first came out. the activate disk would not work for alot of us (myself included) when burned with imgburn but would work fine when burned with clone. thought this was worth adding since there may be alot of people using the activation disk for the first time. also big thanks to all those that have worked long and hard to give us the FREE progs that have made ever thing possible

So, once and for all:

I have a Samsung MS25 drive, flashed with 1.6.

- Will I be able to play Wave 4 games (I suspect not)

- The activate.iso, will it work + do I need to put it everytime into my xbox if I want to play a game, or is it just once, and it stays for ever?

- If not, I flash back to 1.5, will they be able to detect that I'm playing a back-upped game?

Yes you can - my PC always freezes when erasing via Jungle Flasher

I now use JF to read the key & get the drive into Vendor mode, & DosFlash to flash the firmware.
