The firmware version is still the same on the drive sticker. I wonder if its something they are doing to the hardware at the repair centre dry.gif  Like stoping the drive reporting its tray status correctly so it cant be dumped ph34r.gif

I saw a thread like this a week or 2 ago, so for me this is confirmation.
It's too easy to just write these things off as just some noob who cant follow instructions.

i actually thought it was a hardware problem so i de-soldered the pcb and put into another liteon for that exact same reason, i figure shit it must be the tray is not registering as being open at that last step(one of the switches faulty or something), but unfortunately this made no difference. pretty sure they have just changed the encryption on drive key

Awww shoot, didn't expect the 83850c crack to be this short lived sleep.gif

THX will crack it again, but this time the full solution most definitely won't be freely available to the public.

im pretty sure they all wanted to wait a while before releasing the crack but every one pressured them into it. but i also think they will just change the encryption every couple of months now. just brought all the old stock up from three shops the august consoles are the ones to stay away from. this is the price drop surprise!!

I think that was one of the reasons why they was trying to keep the decryption a secret by going through that BS $42 Found My situation.

Ether way it depends on how pissed off the team was after the last shit storm whether anything will be done to get a solution to this new drive situation.

And so the cat and mouse game continues. lol

I had an older version of a liteon that wouldn't give up its key for anything.  Some are just picky I think, or something's not connected right.  I probed, prodded, soldered to the via, to the ic itself, had ppl from jungleflash on efnet looking at my bad dumps, and photos of the board and nothing.  I've done hundreds of liteons and my probe never failed, but that one drive, it would not give up its key.

the same method is used regardless of if your in dos or windows buddy.

tried elite consoles all the way up to 2009-6-20 today without a problem. 2009-7-7 elite is in a new box so stayed away from that.

I tried in MS-DOS using lo83info and latest dosflash 16 bit , both still failed to extract the relavent info to even being decrypting it.

therefore we dont know if they've changed the encryption of the key, but rather the extraction of the encrypted key. they either changed the location or closed the hole lo83info uses.
