yeah sometimes they leave the origianl benq drives in the xbox if they are working, but they wont be new benq's im sure.

Update: just got another xbox from repair center in new zealand and it also has the same issue, no key extraction:

also has the new service sticker on the back as well. aug 2009 drive. 83850c and 3 months live.

since i came across that one the other day have been able to do 83850c drives right up to the following date of manufacture: 2009-07-20 this was in a white box an elite. so  some of the white box V2 elites are modifiable.

Couldn't dump it - Arcade - MFR Date: 08-12-09

Just did my latest 83850c the date was August 09.. but this was not from a repair centre.

There is no consistancy in this.. I have 6 drives now that are dated August 09 which cannot be dumped with my setup.  

Of the August 09 drives I have which cannot be dumped 5 are from the Australian repair centre and 1 is straight from retail.

I am 99% sure these drives are a different firmware or something has been changed in the hardware so that they cannot be dumped using the previous method for 83850c's.

I have done too many 83850c which have worked perfectly. My system is exactly the same for all the dumps.. even after dumping a working 83850c I try and do one from the repair centre which is after Aug 09 and it doesnt work.

So far yes. But as when the last new Liteon stated showing up it did not take long to get onto the store shelves in the States.

As the holidays get closer and the volume of sales rise it wont take long at all before these new drives are all over the place.

Posted this is the sticky thread, seems to be the same problem.

I was able to do a 8385c FW liteon this morning no problem (same manufacture date etc). Used the exact same method with a 2nd one and i keep getting an error when trying to extract the firmware.

It recognises the drive, i click LO83info button and use the tray half open trick. Click ok and then it asks to open the tray fully which i do. Clicked OK then it thinks for a bit and gives me a "LO83info extraction Failed!" error (log below).

Using the latest version of JF, VIA card for sata and xtractor connectivity kit to power.

Wow quick response, I'm doing everything the instructions said exactly, I think there's something different with this drive. I've tried about 10 times.
Not sure what to do, I'm just using Jungle flasher and reading the instructions.

Just double checked my drive. Was manufactured in August 2009. Returned from Australian repair center.

I have done at least 50 of these drives manufactured in July. Read the tutorial again.

Wow, ok this is my first one with that Model Number. I get stuck the same place as everyone else. I do the half open drive, then open it fully and thats when it fails.
The xbox was Manufactured in august, the drive was in July
