Just dumped and flashed a June 2009 83850c without a problem.

Also just came accross another September 2009 83850c which will not dump. Have also tried this using DOS.

tried to probe it like a 74s?

QUOTE(raymondo1 @ Sep 26 2009, 11:04 AM) *

ive got one of these, cant seem to do it either, same prob wont extract
august 2009, 83850c
JF 1.66 reads it as a 8385 (not 83850c) .
ive only done 7 series before but never had trouble.
might try on a different chipset. any ideas weclome gutted just bought a new elite
lot 934x btw.

never done a 83850?
so no proof its not you or your hardware´s problem...

i guess there are no new 83850 drives out there that are not modable.

Only 74s with 83850 labels and
people who do something wrong....

Offcourse there's always a chance that MS changes things.

But I can also confirm i've extracted a liteon 83850 with manufacture date of august 2009 fine.

my hardware is good, i work in electronics design and am not new to this, i have been doing drives since they 1st got hacked. its only the key it doesnt get, the rest is ok

i think you will find there IS something different - drive is heading to someone with far more knowledge on this matter so watch this space.

its very easy to dismiss this as my error i realise but i just put a 7 series back on my pc extracts fine, my HW is sound.

I've also today had an August 09 83850 drive that just returned 00's and "LO83info extraction Failed!" - exactly the same as happened to kiwimods. using via (works fine for other lite-on/benq/samsung) jf1.66.

Thats really interesting., always possible changed half way through august?  Or compleate dumb luck every other drive but  these few dont have same issue.

Had a mate up from wellington nz and he has done many of  these drives also. i asked him to try read that drive of my customers, he found same problem( on my pc) via card etc. That same day read a couple other 83850c just fine. He then traveled home and next day one of his customers brought a 83850c from shop (elite), same issue. This issue is definatly not user or hardware problems. Any way we sending one  of these drives to the pro's  ;-) so hope they have more luck.

Hey when you say works fine for other liteon do you mean you can do other 83850 drives no problem? Same situation?

if there are two different versions of the 83850  its dammed inconsiderate if microsoft are not changing the version/ firmware type on the label !
going forward it will make it difficult to id which drive have I actually got ?

Since my original post I have been observing this thread and although some people have offered some speculation about 'user error' or 'try this and try that'. just to confirm, and to rule out speculation:

I know my equipment works to dump the 83850C drives as I got another one (drive manufactured July 2009, Xbox manufactured 2009-08-05, Lot 0932X, Team: FDOU).
That drive dumped all the LO83info just fine. (See first page for info on the one I couldnt dump)

No the 83850C made in August 2009 that I was attempting to dump did not work with any method attempted. first and foremost it did not work with probe, did not work with the original lo83info provided by foundmy.com no it did not work with dosflash16 or dosflash32, jungleflasher old or new, etc...etc...

Yes some people have modded drives manufactured August 2009, however there is every possibility that something has changed internally in the firmware half way through the month.
Jungle flasher reports it as "8385" just like all othe pre-august ones.

don't slam me for this: but i think more likely than not, its a bug with lo83, that only seems to affect select drives

it doesn't seem feasible (and not to mention, impractical) for m$ to change the firmware of random drives without changing the label

seems unlikely that m$ actually changed anything since some of the people mentioned that they've got drives from older/back stock ? idk, just my opinion.

Just got one of these drives dry.gif Manufactured Aug 2009. Won't read with JF or iPrep 10.7. Have done 3 83850c's before, without issue.

Well, i have 3 consoles on they're way from the Texas Repair Center, they should be here in the next hour or so.  Its Weird they gave me a 2 year warranty on 2 of the systems and just the normal 1 year on one of them.  Not sure why this is.  Heres a screen shot of the Support Site:

IPB Image

Anyways, i'll report back when i try to flash them.
