well you say it is irrerelvent, but you forget to explain why.
if it's true that hackers already know how CPU decrypt dvd data, then it is theoretically possible and simple a brute force attack to break a 16 bit (!) key encryption.

Will it work ? i'm a little afraid that i could get a brick in here any opinion ?

July drive should be fine.  It is highly unlikely that you won't be able to dump the key.

The problem drives are made in August, not July.  There have only been 1 or 2 cases of July drives not dumping the key.  I still believe it was user error.

I'm new to flashing. Just want to know if I go to flash my liteon and it is one of the drives that is unmoddable, will i brick my drive?

Or is there a way to put the original firmware back on if I use JF to extract it.

It is not that the drive is "unmodable", The problem is you can't extract the drive key from the drive which MUST be done first before going any further.

If your drive is an 94xxx series don't even bother trying to extract the key.  If it is a 83xxx series and made in July or earlier, there should be no problem, you can try as long as you follow the direction on jungle-flasher.net you should not be able to harm the drive.

Lite-On drives CANNOT be bricked as you must first erase the firmware before flashing the hacked firmware.

If you have the 83xxx series and the drive is made in August and the key does not come out the first try, try a few more before saying it's un-dumpable.

Also, once the Lite-On is flashed with hacked firmware, it CANNOT be restored to original, ever.

I guess this applies to all Lite-Ons, as the hardware is the same?

Correct.

Although a website in the UK are offering a "Stock LiteOn" service -

Injecting (your) unique data to a stock drive already as opposed to erasing stock firmware.

ehh... i got the same with a july 2009 drive, it won't dump.

i did lotsa 83850c july 2009 drives, so, and also tried a different computer, it won't dump.

Like I said, the majority of the problem drives are in august.  I guess there are a few July drives that don't work.

I bet ur using a VIA sata card. knowen to  have issues w/ this (inconsistent dumps) try un-installing drivers as per JF.PDF.

I am planning to try and dump one of these new drives (83850c v2) LO83 will not give key etc.. I've heard of ppl using probe, I tried probe but DVDkey32 says Bad Serial Data (Could this be just because it doesn't recognise it as a standard 78xxx key??)

A:Does anyone know of an easy way to dump eg a terminal r232 prog?? So I might have a go at decrypting key if it's not  clear txt etc..

B: I've seen ads claiming that XTRACTOR (redbox or some1) dumps 83850c v2 keys (using hardware) does ne1 know this to be true as the web site seemed to lead me in circles some of which set off malware-alarms on my browser.

I will resort to NAND extraction (I'm just getting the hang of NAND dumps) I'm not sure I understand why the JTAG is needed if u can just dump nand with LPT then open in Hex editor.

C: Does anyone know a reason why I cant just dump NAND , open w/Flash tool 0.88 as per: http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=690640  with new elite 120 (Jasper 16) eg JTAG hack doesn't work w/NXE Dash aug 09??



If some1 can answer this I'll happily write tut and/or a script to streamline new liteon key extraction.

Gee I was lucky enough to get one of the drives (83850C) that was modable (mfg date 28-07-2209). I recently bought a new TV and it came with a free Xbox 360 Elite (still has to be delivered) and I'm just crossing my fingers that it doesn't have one of the newer drives.

 Thankyou for your response, if there's no key does this mean I can put any 'ol drive in there or what??   Do you mean there's no serial key output from the PCB,.....  If so would I then be safe to get key from JTAG/NAND/XELL/Nandtool0.88 and then spoof it into the 83850c 1.6 Ixtreme FW? Has anyone successfully done this???

PS: It's knowen that PRE-August drives (83850c Ver1) Can have issues with VIA chipset (I think it may be a case of removing the drivers or having to do DOS dump instead, If you are getting all Zero's I'd bet dollars to donuts it's a Ver2 drive ver1 with VIA issue dump inconsistent and erroneous data (Try other methods if you have this prob and make sure to dump twice and compare results)
