Hi y'all

NASCAR Heat 2002 - Yeah, i know it's not exactly the newest game on the block...

However, there is an enourmous amount of mod's available for the PC version... meaning you can effectively create whole new racing games from it's engine...

Among the mod's are various UK Oval racing formula's and accurately mapped tracked - these have always been ignored by console game manufacturers.

So, what i was wondering is, has anybody ever looked at the possibilty of getting these mod's to work with the xbox version of the game?

I'm not a hacker / modder by any stretch of the imagination, but...  I've extracted my xbox iso, and compared it with the installed PC game on my computer - and there is lots of the same files... such as .trk files (tracks) .car files (err.. cars) & .paint files (i guess car textures or something)

I'm sure an experienced programmer, could easily come up with some sort of patch (maybe based on the PC patch code?) that would suddenly allow all us xbox fans access to the many freely available cars and tracks available for the PC version of the game. Maybe something similar to the PC "NASCAR Heat Essentials" mod launcher, where we could choose which car and track pack to load into the game

My dream would be to see the BriSCA Heat modpack running on xbox, a superb full contact racing formula, criminally over-looked by game creators in the UK

Has anybody any ideas about this... whether it's possible... that sort of thing?

I guess no-one has any interest in this at all...

It'd be a lifeline for the many fans of UK oval sports.

I am also interested in hacking this game.  It is so much better than the ea sports nascar thunder series.  It would be so wonderful to add new tracks.  The game is missing many great tracks, such as Indianapolis, Pocono, Kansas, Chicago and the reconfigured Homestead-Miami.  I tried to use some of the pc mods but I had no luck, plus I am stupid when it comes to modding and hacking.  Please PLEASE somebody smart help us nascar heads!

I have found a program to open .trk files called WINRESTOOLS:  http://www.texasspee...nstall-1.0b.exe
I haven't messed with it yet, but I plan on playing with it when I buy nascar heat for pc.  When I do buy the game for pc, I will post a list of the files included on it so we can compare them to the files found in the xbox version.

Please PLEASE help us hack this awesome game and add your name to the illustrious list of people who are my heroes  smile.gif

I'm communicating with a nascar heat pc modder.  We don't know if the two games are compadible yet, but they have similar filestructures.  I have high hopes that something good will come out of it, hopefully mods and new tracks!  I'll will post any results.

Well, i'm glad to see i'm not the only one interested in this... smile.gif

I frankly have got absolutely nowhere with it...

It really is a shame that a decent coder doesn't want to get involved with this project, as the scope for mod's available is HUGE!!!!

There is literally hundreds of different tracks and cars and formula's available for this game, from which many different NEW games could be created quite easily, once the structure is in place to import them from the PC to the XBox.

There was a varitable outcry, and the whole mod community got together, to create a working 'back-up' of TOCA3 recently, and to what benefit... nothing more than the pirate scene in all honesty..

Yet no-one shows any interest what-so-ever, of using their skillz to create something fresh and original, to bring games to the xbox not available in the shop's... unique driving games, which the big money hungry software house's have absolutely no interest in, as they won't bring in the big Megabucks... Yet there is a whole communities out there of cult followers of lesser know driving sports who would jump at the chance to get hold of a game that represents them.

What a shame  sad.gif
