Tool To Add Songs To Original Karaoke Revolution
« on: November 27, 2005, 12:16:00 PM »

Hi,

I just created a new tool to add your own songs to the original Karaoke Revolution, download it here:

http://www.geocities.com/krmxbox/

It's open source, written in java and works with Linux and Windows.

If someone can figure out Karaoke Revolution Party's ark file format, I probably could get it to work with that version as well.

If it works big props to you

I'm not sure why it crashed for you, but I've created several songs already. The only trouble I had was that it would freeze at the loading screen for a song if it didn't have *.ltf, *_weights.bin, and *_lips.gen, but if you copy it from another song, it works fine.

I'm a little afraid of getting sued for this, since Konami probably doesn't want anyone making songs and screwing their business model, so I'm doing this completely anonymously.

Take a look at the documentation on the link I gave, or just download the program and try it out if you don't believe I'm serious.

WOw I"m sorry I had my doubts  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
I managed to add livin' on a prayer. Well a rather sloppy version since I didn't try my best to match up the lyrics to the song
Wicked work!!

Ohfara, Would I be able to get the .mid file it made when you created it? I have the original song.
For some odd reason after another try tonight, i keep runnign into the same problem, song is in the list, even plays the sample, but freezes when it attempts to load it.  I can't find the reason yet on why it's doing this, wanting to test others.  Aye, i'm glad to hear of your success !

We should get a website or something going where we can post our created songs.  I made Stand By Me, by Ben E. King.  I think it turned out reasonably well.

Not sure if posting a link to it would be against policy...

I am gonna work on Sweet Child of Mine and Hey Jude tonight.  Hopefully have them done tomorrow.  Looking into site hosting possibilities.  If anyone has any suggestions on where we could host this stuff, that would be nice.

until someone gets some sort of hosting, how about using a gmail account to store the files.  I could setup a new gmail account either for all to access or I could create a torrent for all to download the files that have been e-mailed.  ???

sorry for double posting, but I've setup an ftp server for these files.  Currently the folder is empty & speeds will probably be quite slow, but hey - it's a start.  :-)

That would be great, something for now at least. I'm dieing to try some of these and see how they work with mine, and be able to look at the files and hopefully find what I'm doing wrong, I really can't wait to create my own.

Did you clear the cache and make sure not to use an old save game?

Also, did you follow the steps in the manual for going from the .zip file to all the files that need to be loaded onto Karaoke Revolution?
