So I got impatient waiting for someone to come up with a board specific to GR2 modding so I came up with my own  GR2 Mods.  I am in no way trying to step on anyones feet here so if anyone wants mod access just drop me a line and I'll see about setting it up.

Also note that this may only be in the interm, until Helios has more computer time and is able to create his site, at which time either we can merge the two or I'll just shut mine down.

basically it's filename -> nulls -> file contents -> nulls -> next filename

Here's a little more details:

nope, but if we can ever get into the .img file in the GR2 disk for the playstation 2, it would open up a lot of possibilities.

While I understand the fear of cheating, there are some of us who would really enjoy new maps/missions/characters/weapons. As for the model files there actually xqob files (I have no clue what the difference is) for the qob files (used in GR:IT) take a look at:

Here is a post i did just post on another forum! A bitt lacy now so i'm just copy and past this post!

SKINNING IN GR2! (Basic and tools)

Been browsing and reading some post around now!
First i have to say that many of the post i have read makes me wonder; does they whant to make more realistic gun's and addon guns for EVERYONE?? Or does they just whant to have big advantages over other players in multiplayer? Just becouse they suck so badly that they need to cheat to win! And destroy a perfect multiplayer game for everyone! I have been playing All the version of Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon on multiplayer. Cause they rock! So let's see... Think it's been about 7-8 years of multiplayer in theese games! And i have had a lots of great games and fun! But some of the games have been a total nightmare caus of cheaters in many ways! Luckaly the pc versions have a pretty good protection that blocks cheaters out of multiplayer games!

Remember! Xbox has none!!

So every little damn cheater can cheat in these games only by reading our post! And for those of us who whant more gaming fun for EVERYONE can easely ruin for ourself! Think twice before posting info that helps thos lousy cheaters!

I gues lot's of cheaters will be angry on this post!
And hopfully a little thought for the rest of us!

With this in mind: I don't whant to make info that helps these cheaters to cheat! Only safe stuff.

So for some little info about skinning modding GR2 (safe for cheaters   ).
I have made new weapon skin, uniform skin and new rectile/scope view in this way.

First all skins in GR2 is in a xpr file. Xpr is a compressed file.

You can use GX 003c (Greed Xplorer v 003C) to brows xpr and showing whats inside. You can also extract dds and tga with this tool. But you can't import the dds back! So i only use this as a browser/viewer tool! Found this at ninjahackers! Great forum for gfx editing!

I use a little tool, MiteeXPR. This can extract to dds and inject the edited dds. It also make a report with the correct dds settings you need when saving/making new dds file! Found this at xbox-scene.

Then i use photoshop to edit the skins with nvidia's plugin!
Get it from http://developer.nvi...ture_tools.html
(Btw! can get lots of other stuff there too!)

After im done in photoshop and saved my new dds file. I use MiteeXPR ton inject the edited dds file! And now you shoul have a new skin.

Just remember to overwrite the file in game folder and on the cashe drive. Mine is z drive. But remeber to make a copy of the org file in case you need to go back!

Couldn't find the edit post button so here is a edit to my last post about skinning GR2.

Edit:
I think that UBI has made GR2 to use more havy gfx on single player and less gfx on multiplayer. Cause on xbox you need good UL speed to host games! Most games u can't host more than 10 peoples with 256k UL speed!

Couse when i made a skin for GR2 the new skin did only show on non mission games. Like deffend, lone wolf and multiplayer. Note! It's only u that can see the skin, and others who have the same edited skin!

frohanss has posted in a different gr2 modding forum.  it was stated that he wasn't intentially attacking me.  just seemed that way to me.

anyway, apologies accepted and forgiven.  the misunderstanding is over.

either way, none of us endorse cheating with any info shared in either forums.  (consider this a disclaimer).

i apologize for the language i used, feeling attacked took me out of character.

this may sound stupid for some, but if i'm wrong or there is a misunderstanding, i prefer resolution.  not a believer in "online arguments" or flaming.

enough said.

lets all enjoy modding games as well as xboxes.
