In short, yeah. Use and aid disk or hexen. Your x3 (I believe) will prompt you to setup everything from scratch.

POP in NEW HDD, boot to X3 menu and prep the new HDD, then just use the X3 FPT server and FTP over all the C E and F drive contents and your good to go..
