Silly request.  How did you get the entire Gamebase64 collection in a format that conforms to the xbox file system?  There are so many games, and using renamers either cuts off the disk number or , if you're keeping characters in parenthesis intact, cuts off the game name completely or to the point where it's nothing but a couple letters.  To my knowledge, there is no program that removes useless TOSEC flags like date, publisher, release group, etc...not even Tugid.  Is there a feasible way to devise a similar renamer?  I'm probably living in a fairy world, but it's a valid concern.  If there's no viable solution xport, then I'd be curious to know how everyone else is dealing with this.

Oh a couple more things.  Is it possible to rework the virtual keyboard to be non-transparent ?  Kinda like the keyboard used in Spextrum (or at least an option to control that transparency level)?  Also, just to make it faster to navigate, maybe use the left analog stick to use as a pointer that you can move, sort of like a mouse to quickly go through the keyboard faster than the D-pad?  Lastly, can you preconfigure some of the combinations or keys in your controller config that is commonly needed to use this computer for people who've never owned one and don't know much about it like me?  All would be much appreciated.  Thanks Xport.

Like you did with GB64, it would be cool to have the Gamebase Amiga or Lemonade database in WinUAEX
http://www.lemonamiga.com
http://gbamiga.elowar.com/
both use simple jet/access databases (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif).

- loading savestates for .hdf files often dont work for me
- bsdsocket for networking eventually

more to come...

I think I mentioned this before but here goes again. Bootable HDF files only work the first time you run them, subsequent attempts just boot to the kickstart screen. Would love to see this fixed as I spent ages turning a bunch of ADF games into HDFs for faster loading.

ISO+MP3+CUE support for CD32 games would also be fabulous.

And please don't update the core if it even minutely impacts performance.

I completely forgot about this request...please, if anything gets changed, implement this.

Here is my only "Request". What "AmyGrrl" and I have mentioned in the thread.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif)  What about Picasso96 (Amiga with vga enhanced) support? Of course I know that thing enabled would tax the emu a bit, but could be a nice addition to an already complete Amiga emulator...

I need to find some kind of tutorial that explains how to run and how to make .hdf games from .adfs disks. I have a complete amiga hdf games, but I never get it to run ever on Winuaex (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) ...any help?

There is one feature that would be very valuable in all of your "computer" emulators - support for Competition Pro USB joystick, pretty popular among the users of PC emulators.

Here is a review of this hardware:
http://www.zombienexus.com/forums/cms_view...p?aid=28&page=1

And some proofs that it would be really appreciated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
Old thread I've found:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=347942
And another thread with people asking for this feature:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/i...hp/t267150.html

This joystick is of course fully digital (with 4 buttons).

If you don't have this joystick, and not willing to have, maybe we can provide you some kind of information that would be useful?

Regards.

The HDFs in the TOSEC set are not bootable i.e. you need to run the games from Workbench. To make your own HDFs that boot immediately you'll need a program called WHDLoad and a fairly good understanding of the Amiga's disk operating system and startup-sequence files. I don't know of any tutorial since I was already familiar with the workings of the Amiga before I started.

It's a time consuming process but I'd say ultimately worth it to have games that load instantly and don't require any disk swapping. But as I mentioned previously, on the current WinUAE-X you can only run bootable HDFs once.

PS: XPort, if you need any of these files to help with fixing this issue please let me know.

Nice to see the amiga gamebase get a mention.  It really has come a looooong way since it started.  It may be a bit much, but one can dream.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)  Would be sweet to see.

It's been a while since I tinkered with it, so I may have missed a few version.  But there is a feature in the GP2X atari800xl emulator that may come handy.  Under the "disc menu" is an option to "rotate" the disks.  So for example if I place disks 1-4 in their respective drives, the rotate option would rotate them.  The first rotate would result in the disk order being 2,3,4,1.  A 2nd rotate would be 3,4,1,2.  Etc.  I know alot of amiga games do not require this (because of volume name), but it'd be really handy for those that don't or insist on using only DF0:.

Have save states remember which disks were loaded in which drive as well as saving under the name of the original disk loaded (usually disk 1).  As opposed to storing the last used drive config in the game config file.

USB Keyboard sensitivity adjustment?  I'll have to check this (it's been ages) but X-port pc based emu's seemed to be extremely sensitive with keyboard presses.  (was this fixed in v7?)

I'll try an check the last two when I get home.  My xbox hard drive kinda died last year so I kinda lost alot of enthusiasm considering how much effort I put into getting all my junk on there in the first place.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I'm just curious.  Anyone know if there is a wiki on this?  I've noticed a couple people created something for the a800 and a2600.  With this round being the final hurrah.  It'd be kinda nice for all of us to gather our resources together.

Oh and thanx again for a wonderful emu.  This has gotta be by far my fav x-port emu.

In Archon I and II, I find my self unable to keep joystick 2 centered, no matter what controller I plug up.  So It constantly goes to the left, making units unable to be selected.

I cant change the deadzone to fix it I can't change the sensitivity (Joysticks are not analog), and I can't counter the deadzone on the stick.

Only happens on joystick port B.  Happens even if second controller is unplugged.

Happens on a lot of other games too.

Could you possibly add the floppy disk loading sounds to the emulator?  They are in AmigaForever packages, and are suppored by WinUAE

I'm glad you are bringing the newest version up to the latest source!  Alot of changes have been made in the EMU since yours was last updated.

Keep up the awesome job Xport.

Already supported. It's in the ROM options.

I just got to thinking the gamebase might not be able to be done cause x-port had to trim off a few features just to make room for the memory needed to emulate the amiga.   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

There's no gamebase stuff in WinUAEX.  You must be speaking about Vice64X - which is a topic for another time.

However, since there has been a lot of talk in this thread about adding Lemon Amiga or other such game database information, I'll say that it's extremely unlikely that I'll do so.

As Likklebaer pointed out, the transparency is already implemented.  A pointer on the keyboard may happen - depends on how functional it is.  Regarding preconfigured key combinations - I have no idea what key combinations you have in mind.  I've never found it bothersome to just bring up the virtual keyboard and tap whatever key happened to be needed to make the game start or continue loading.  You can configure whatever you need through the configuration menus though.

As already stated in the documentation, save states for hard drives is not supported.  You're lucky it worked at all.  BSD sockets = unlikely.

Yes, please package one up and PM me with where I can download it.

ISO/MP3 is one thing that I'd like to try and finish.

I'm not planning on updating the core.

Implementing that kind of change to the cheat code management would require overhauling a number of things.  It's not going to happen.  However, I would like to get around to making the cheat code searching more robust, such as being able to look at all of your matches instead of only being able to add them to the list when there are <10 matches.  16bit searches and a memory dump would be useful also.

QUOTE(Tulius @ Mar 16 2006, 05:57 PM) *

No, almost definitely not.  Remember that this port is very memory intensive, so I cut out all the extraneous stuff to ensure that the core was as fast/robust as possible and didn't have to make use of virtual memory.

People continually ask for misc. USB peripheral support.  It requires low level (kernel) USB programming and would be an enormous undertaking to try and accomplish.  Sure, it would be nice, and I'm sure some determined person will do this at some point, but it's a pretty safe bet that it's not going to be me.

Rotate disks - sure why not.
Save states, disks - I'll look into this again - I thought I had a reason for this when I did it
I see in the readme that v7 fixed the keyboard repeating problem.

Do you have your xbox analog stick set up to control the amiga digital up/down/left/right?  If you press right on the analog stick, does it stop it from moving left?

I said it earlier in this post, but just to be clear - I'm not updating the core to the latest source.  There's no compelling reason to do so (especially since this particular port is so finicky).
