Few Questions Regrading Hdd Upgrade

1. You didn't mention the word "Xbox" at all so I have no idea what you're trying to accomplish for this one.
2. Yes, you can use DVD2Xbox to rip the game files from a disc onto your hard drive.
3. Yes, you can directly connect your laptop to your Xbox with a crossover cable.  You would have to manually set the network settings for both your laptop and the Xbox.

If you want to use a SATA hard drive in the Xbox with a SATA to PATA adapter, then the adapter will provide power to the hard drive after you plug the molex power connector into it.

sounds like alot of trouble if you ask me. he should just get a PATA ,preferably a Seagate or Maxtor. I 've had alot of success with those in 2007.

I havent explained the first question properly enough so i will rephrase all again. I wish to update my original xbox hdd to a seagate ide pata hdd. BUT when i opened my old computer i found that a hdd is connected with SATA cables.

So i do not have a ide connection to even connect that new hdd to my old computer to do the process of preparing a hdd for the xbox. That is why i am getting the sata to ide convertor. The question was would that convertor be enough to do the job. Thanks for the replies though but i am sure this convertor will do the job.
