Neither is better in terms of performance, but I'd go via the router. Connecting via the router is easier, and has the advantage that the router should allocate an IP address to your Xbox via DHCP. If you connect with a crossover cable you'll need to allocate IP addresses manually.

Ah, okay. I thought a crossover cable would be faster seems that I'd be connected directly to the PC. Might as well save my money then, LOL!

Anyway, I have a question about the HDD. What's the biggest one I could use for the Xbox? Also, do I have to use a PATA HDD because I've seen a 1TB SATA drive (Going for €129!).

If I got the 1TB HDD could I use a SATA to IDE converter?

Technically 2TB, but no one makes an IDE drive that big. There's a few threads in General Hardware / Technical Chat about using SATA to IDE converters with SATA drives, but the results seem variable - and I think they all use flashed / chipped boxes, not softmodded ones.

Yeah, I've just read the thread about the 1TB drive and from what I've read, there seems to be some problems with SATA HDDs.

Meh, I'll just stick with this then.

If I FTP an NTSC game onto my current HDD, can I still play it? My TV supports NTSC mode.

Can't edit my last post, BTW. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

Yes, a modded console will boot games/DVD movies from any region.

Cool! Thanks, Bomb Bloke!

Anyay, I'm having a little problem. I'm tryig to get the Splinter Cell saves onto my friends Xbox, but they're not showing up on the Action Replay thing, so I can't transfer them onto the memory stick. Any ideas why?

You don't need to use Action Replay - just ftp a clean copy of the Krayzie gamesaves to your modded Xbox then copy them to the memory stick using file manager. Put the gamesaves in a temporary directory on your Xbox (you don't want to overwrite your copy, 'cos it's a useful back door), then put the numbered folders (5553000c and 21585554 for Splinter Cell) in the root of the memory card.

Well, I got it eventually, LOL! I just had to drag and drop the zipped saves into the AR thing. They're not supposed to show up on it.

BTW, I've just realized that when I'm on the UnleashX daskboard or playing a game, the front light is orange instead of green...is that normal?

Yes, perfectly normal. That's how you tell that a new softmod (like Krayzie and Kingroach) is working properly. When you go into Krayzie extras the LED turns red to let you know that you've bypassed the virtual eeprom and shadow C.

That's good! Didn't know the light could change colour so I wasn't too sure.

Going to have to get that HDD sooner then I thought, though! I only have 506.19MB left, LOL!

Okay, I'm having a bit of a problem (As usual!) with adding skins to UnleashX.  I've read a lot of tuts all over the 'net and none of them have worked so far.

Right now, the skins are sitting in my E/Skins folder (Which I made because there were no 'Skins' folder anywhere). I've set the path to E/Skins in the settings menu on the dash, but they still won't show up even if I reboot.

Here's a pic of the folder, if it's of any use:
(IMG:http://i135.photobucket.com/albums/q139/ger360/unleashxskins.jpg)

I've even tried zipping the files and putting them into the folders, but that doesn't work either.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Or try replacing UnleashX with XBMC.
