Before you go to bed check the power going to the MOBO, I have a suspicion that is the problem because I remember that happening to me, it wasn't all the way in and caused FRAGing and fan speed go to 100%.

well f*ck that then, i just bought a new mobo + hard drive + psu combo last night off of ebay for $50 shipped. that'll solve the problem

if all else fails, just throw money at it.
