Bad Chip?
« on: April 29, 2006, 09:33:00 PM »

I have a 1.0 box with an x3. When I have the chip in it ONLY boots to the flash bios (ie, no MS dash). When I the chip out, it boots right up to the MS dash and i can play games and shit all right. Is this a problem with my chip, or my mobo?

Yeah, there is not a problem...that is what it is supposed to do.
Put in your chip and turn it on...boot the flash BIOS.  Then, flash the chip with a hacked BIOS (like the X2_5035) and install your dashboard and applications (dvd2xbox, xbmc, etc).
You might want to read-up a little more about the modding process.
Keep us posted.

no, I mean like if I hold down the power button it's supposed to boot to the MS dash, right? And if I give it a quick tap it boots with a blue light, and if I hold the power and eject buttons it boots with a purple light. That's not the case. It also won't let me flash it.

Did you install the power board, and you probably just need to flip the flash switch.

i'm not retarded, lol. I'm sorry I worded the posts so poorly.

I have everythign installed properly, I have flipped the flash protect switch both ways, I have the p/e adapter thing installed, I've tried it with an external switch and without one. Nothing is working. I'm assuming this is the chip.

I realize how poorly I worded the posts. I have done my fair share of research on the topic, and I've tried many soloutions to the problem. Does anyone else have any opinions?

To accomodate you being assholes, I'll re-type this in one post.

Problem: My chip will not let me flash it, and It will not let my box boot to the MS dash

Failed soloutions: Tried to flash via http and via disk, moved flash protect switch in both directions, tried with external switch and without external switch. Re-soldered the LPC and d0. Made sure I had everything plugged in correctly. Searched both on here and the the team xecuter forums, got nothing.

When I take the chip off of the pinheader it lets the box boot to the MS dash and functions properly.

nice attitude

My suggestion, try flashing the bios first and then booting with the chip off. Does the chip show red light when you hold the power button.
