Hdd Help!
« on: April 27, 2006, 02:30:00 PM »

okay, first of all, im not sure if this is in the right forum so if it isn't i will be more than happy to move it elsewhere.

next i had a few questions about my harddrive before i opened it up. was wondering if anyone knew first if a 120 GB seagate will work to replace my stock hdd in my box.  not sure if seagate works or if 120 is a good amount.

next i was wondering about hdd locking. how do i know if my hdd can lock.  it doesnt say anywhere on the packaging so i was wondering if it can be locked or not.  if not are therer any other suggestinos on which kind of hdd i should choose. i work at bestbuy so preferably a hdd that they sell at best buy. Thanks.

The HDD needs to be lockable if you want the MSdash to work, or if you want to use XBL.

Games are generally 2-3gigs, but can be as big as 6gb or as little as 0.8gb
I personaly have a 160gb HDD.
*no matter how big your HDD is you will fill it. (Murphy's law or something)

There's 3 links to lists of HDD's. It will tell you if they're "lockable"

Here is the main <compatability list>

Remember, you  might  be backing up xbox games, movies, emulators and roms, music etc. it can fill fast. i just installed a 250 GB Seagate($80.00 on tigerdirect.com) its a beaut (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
