umm...sorry to burst your bubble, but it's probably because XBMC does not play sound on divx movies..

Although XBMC is way more advanced than XBMP...(Which Is why I use it..)

Maybe people don't need all that "advanced features." Who cares if it's not updated it still does job.

Yeah same here. XBMP plays all my videos no problem, but XBMC doesnt have a good ff/rew system, and all my videos end up dropping out at one point or another. Maybe I should try a different cache size.

I wish they would at least update the video codecs for XBMP until XBMC is really ready to go. I keep checking out media center, but the sound support sucks for divx, xvid, etc. I get surround sound on media player, but only stereo on media center. Until they get the sound up to par, I'm stuck on media player.

I just checked out the latest build and I had better results. (Should have done that before posting!) I guess I should do some real testing before bitching about it...

I must say, the latest build is pretty cool....

I can't help but notice how much quicker XBMP seems to load most videos and music files, as opposed to XBMC...

Speed is key for me... so I'm still sold on my XBMP.

I have exactly the opposite results, XBMC hauls a$$ loading network shares. I used XBMP for months and upon install of XBMC, immediately noticed the speed of loading. I could go on and on about how much better XBMC is but try it yourself first and then see if you will ever use XBMP again. RW and FF are fully functional w/XBMC 3-9-04 now. Don't be the old dog who can't learn new trix, try it.

Just found the joys of XBMC myself..

And think the interface looks great..

I have a smb share to Relax, and without putting any settings in it found the root of my Relax shares and listed below the mapped drives.

However.....

I would like a default to my Music, Video and Photos.

in xbmp you had

in xbmc you have something like 192.17.1.01

but I can't get the correct syntax.... any one know how to referance a particular share?

Other than that GREAT.. Keep up the good work and I cant wait for a non alpha version....

How about some Ideas....

How about an XML news reader.. for sites such as sky news, xbox-scene, jobserve, ZDNet etc....

Until it has the ability to resize the UI it'll always be #2 compared to XBMP.
