Anyway this is going to be shorter..

--on/off switch
THe on/off and the eject switch is from a broken xbox.. The front panel has 9 wires, so i tappped into the ones on my xbox and put the female 9 pin connecter on the back.. took the other front panel and extended then to my dash..  You dont have to do this you only need 2 wires to turn the xbox on and off.. But I wanted the leds to work and maybe one day put the dvd drive in my dash so thats why i ran 9 wires..

--Sound and Video
I have a Clairon flip-screen that has AV in and 5.1 optical in..  

--Remote
From what i know the 3rd party remote will not work or will not work properly for XBMP...
If it works for you more power to  you.. On ebay the M$ remotes are going for like $10US..
My IR receiver is plug into the two controller port that i install in my dash but you could just crack it open and extended it.. I just still wonder if you could piggy-back the controler like a mem card.. It seem logical..  

---Car off playing XBOX
It work fine for me with me car off.. also I have a trunk party awhile back and played it for about 2 hours, also jammin the music pretty loud..
"It stays on for 2 sec then cut off" sound like the power is cut to your sig lighter.. Make sure that you have power to you sig lighter with the key off and not just ACC or RUN

If you mean that the WHOLE XBMPs setting then that a problem with xbmp..
Yes when i shut mine off then on i have to go back to my music or movies and hit play.. But most of my music is setup in playlists so that i can get them going quickly..

For Movies there is a feature that was add about 3 or 4 releases ago or so.. hehe Called Bookmark.. it only works on video but it allows you the put a bookmark of where you left of.. Just hit the TITLE buttton on the remote or the white button on the controller and it will bring up that menu on the botton and then select "Video Settings"  in there will be "Create bookmark" which will allow you to start right where you left off at.. The only shitty think is you have to start that movie you where watchin and then you can go the Cycle Bookmarks..

Infuscomus.. that $30 cheaper than the one i was looking at.. still $170 ouch..
Tell me how well it works when you get it.. I still think a Laptop converter will work.. just cant get my friend to let me rip it apart.. O well my 12v to 110 work fine Plus i can put almost any thing into it..
Btw I look at the specs and it pretty strait forward.. only bad part its not going to fit in your xbox.. and i not sure if the xbox connecter is standard ATX.. never really thought of that tell i typed this..

Yo.  Im putting my EvoX in my truck too.  It is going to sit in a

protective Egg Crate foam padded crate (for that fragile HDD)

with a lid for easy removal.  All I have to do is buy an inverter,

and a screen.  

Any

suggestions on an inverter would be nice.  BTW what is so

great about a PC supply?  Can I buy one cheap?  When I turn

my truck off the power still stays on for about 7 minutes, or

until I open my door.  I am also getting my sound to the

speakers, the cheap way and I don't even have to go into the

DASH!  This set up I will have will be totally disconnectable

and portable.  Wanna know how I get the sound from the

EvoX to the car speakers?  PM me.  Because it's kinda in the

works for a patent.

    No, the xbox power connector is not a direct connect for an ATX source... However, the power supply and the wiring are ATX complient so spliceing in an Atx connector was required. Not real hard though... The thing about the opus is the micoprocessor that controls the delay of 12v signal from ACC to starting the car. Making it easier on the Xbox and me not turning it on manually. As well as the automatic shutdown if battery level drops...

On thing I would like to find out... is there an extention cable for the Xbox that has the Female game port on one end and the male on the other? I need a way to use the M$ remote, but the xbox is in the trunk.

 I live in Texas.. it gets hot, not Arizona 120* Hot  but about 90*-100* now that its in the summer time..  What i do is flip my seat down and just flip the ac on max for about 5 min then turn my xbox on..
But mostly i try not to worry.. I took the temp display off my evox..

The egg crate work great but if you are really worried about your HD get 2 peices of plastic, metal, wood, ..ect.. thats about 10''x12''  or so Just make then bigg enough for your xbox to set on.. then go to a Hobby Shop and get 5 model car springs you might have to experiment to get the right sring rate .. one in each corner and one in the middle.. This make almost all the bumps go away.. I also saw along time ago when building a mp3 player for my car that it was said that putting the HD vertical - up and down, that it is less likely to cause problems..
Which did kinda make sence, The HD heads were moving up and down not side to side.. so it woldnt hit the platter.. O well you make the call..  

And yes get a 300w inverter,  a screen, or one of thows screens that clip on the xbox for mobility, The sound can be done by using a FM module or hell you have a tape deck that will work too.. which has been around sence the cd player came out, might be longer but thats when i remember seeing them.. hehe they were like $100.... If you after market stereo has rca-in,  your set...
 
 Also I wouldnt try to put a patent on any of this cause what you are doing to your xbox is illegal.. + what would xbmp and all the other app for the xbox be if they put a patent on them and made you pay for it.. it would kinda suck right.. and it prolly wouldnt have come this far so quick..  every-thing is OPEN SOURCE free to the taking or to the copiling.. well exept EVOX and some others..... FuCkERs. heheh  but go right ahead and have fun with MS.. sorrry but that kinda pissed me off    wizard17..

PS connecter was what i thought.. thanks for confirming. like i said before just get a controller port off a xbox.. off ebay or go here http://www.llamma.com/xbox/parts.htm look for "Xbox 2 USB Ports (Game pad Sockets)"
there is also a great pic of them there.. just pop one off and it to a cable the has the BREAK-AWAY thingy on it plus thats what most off the extention cable are now BREAK-AWAY extenders..  then just plug in your IR receiver.. you also could crack the IR receiver open and just wire it to a extender.. take your pick..

Also pr0digy1  you never know that remote might work great..  just like in the begining of the xbox it was awhile befor madcatz release a remote and the one that were out M$ said they could void you warrenty... yeh..ok..right!!  LeT JuSt GiVe More mOnEy tO M$ so there might be and open standard now.. who knows

Hey thanks Snyper.  I really appreciate your help.   That was a lot of typing.  Hope your hands are okay.  But Im not patenting the entire Idea.  Just the connector I made.  You see,  I just made a little connector that combines the L and R audio into a single headphone out.  PM me and I'll tell ya more.  Thanks again.

No it's different.  This I made and It doesn't use any fancy equipment.  Trust me.  PM me and I'll tell you.  You type like an honest person.  The Red and White (L & R) audio signal gets sent to a headphone jack.  A female JACK.  Not the male connector.  Listen just PM me.

So what all cool stuff are you guys doing with your boxes in your truck/cars?  here's what i have along with a few idea's:

currenlty using:
Xbmp:
*Music
*Video's
*Games (xbox and Emu's)
*Pictures
.. so nothing speical or out of the ordinary for the setup..

Idea's for future stuff:
*Wireless Net adapter for car-xbox (maybe useful when wireless becomes more common in cities.
*Put on linux.. ==.. i've been thinkng abou this one..
*Gps addidion to xbox somehow.. / or just even some mapping/street software for linux maybe?  i couldn't find anything about this.


So what are some of yours guys plans/future ideas for your mobile xboxes?
